Big important point. He played in Canada when he was a hyped first round pick. Now he’s a vet here everyone knows who he is.
Also, why are hockey players so scared of the spotlight?
Because Canadians care about hockey.
There. Saved you a read.
Canadian media is toxic and nobody wants to deal with that
Not sabres legend Taylor Hall
Only in hockey is that a thing. Imagine being intimidated by the pressure of playing for the Yankees or Real Madrid. Are hockey players cowards?
More Pressure from exposure. More taxes. Where’s the parity?
Yeah boo hoo. Europeans football/soccer players play in much more crazy markets than the NHL will ever know. The best players thrive on it or simply won’t care about it. The others are just not cut out for it. If you can’t handle the pressure in the NHL, just go play hockey in Germany, be unknown and have fun.
Stop making this bigger than it needs to be, these people are professionnal athletes, we shouldn’t need to babysit them or feel bad for people making millions playing a game.
Sentiment here is very anti-player, unlike when Carey Price stepped away for personal reasons.
I guarantee hockey media in Edmonton is far less difficult than any NFL and most NBA/MLB markets
NHLers are soft compared to the other major sports in North America in terms of dealing with media scrutiny. God help them if they ever had to deal with European football levels of media and fans pressure.
Best soccer players in the world want to play for the most pressure teams like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, etc.
Best baseball players want to play in NYC or LA.
Best basketball players want to play in high pressure markets like Boston and LA.
Hockey players? Oh no!!! too much pressure… can’t handle the pressure of fans wanting us to win! Oh the horror!
The Canadian media cares I’m big sad
