I love the Carolina Hurricanes there's my second team AKA my team to root for in the playoffs
Andrei Svechnikov is my all time favorite hockey ever and I believe he can further evolve he's game to the another level
Not only did Pacioretty score at a 40+ goal pace, he played really well when healthy. He came back early from injury and sucked at the end of the year. I cannot believe my second favorite team traded him plus a prospect defenseman for literally nothing
Hopefully this will be the year we make it to the finals
nice video!
Canes fan since Greensboro, but I am not as hopeful this summer as I was last summer. Too much depth walked away and has been, to this point, not replaced. Relying on injury prone players does not instill confidence, and counting on better performances from youngsters doesn't seem like solid team building. Hoping I am proven wrong (wouldn't be the first time). Go Canes.
This is still a soft team. The rangers tossed Jarvis around like a rag doll. Having KK as the 2C is very risky. Will Patch play anything near 82 games. When will Freddy get injured ?? No excuse for letting trochek and Nino walk. What a pathetic attempt to obtain Matt thachuk!!
My only concern is the Canes did not address the need for toughness. This has been a major issue come playoff time. Burns can throw them but has not in a while due to past concussions. RBA doesn't like fighting but you can't let other teams do what they do to your younger players. The Canes need that one player like a Reaves that will police those things. The Rangers, The Lightning, and the Bruins x2 all have bullied the Canes out of the playoffs the last 4 years. That and RBA's unwillingnes to make changes to the lineup when needed. ie no wins on the road with ZERO changes in the lineup. PP goes to trash with ZERO changes. Insanity= doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results! Maybe they can somehow trade Gardiner for a cheap enforcer type of player.
As for Necas- Great talent!!!! RBA asked him to work on his defensive game. He did that but it cost him on the offensive side of the puck. He was also in his first contract year. Many players (like Svech) tend to have a rough year in their first contract year. Svech bounced back and so will Necas. RBA has been working with Necas on faceoffs and has used him at Center on the PP and it produced. Then for some reason did not go back to that. RBA has hinted at Necas moving to center his natual spot. Bear has signed. Bear got the shaft last year. Even at his worst he is better than Gardiner!!!! He had no issues before his long bout with covid and aftermath of it. He struggled with lung issues. Still better than Smith. He could have provided some spark on the road if he was inserted in the playoffs. Sorry but Zero changes was a coaching fail. I do not see patches on the top line. I believe he will be with Staal and Fast. Slipping right in Neno's spot providing more of an offensive punch on that line. 4th line Center could be either Drury or Necas. The Canes 4th line has not been the normal "checking"line. Staal's line has been that. I'm looking for Aho to hit that next gear that we all know is in there. He is an amazing UNDERRATED center. Defense- #1 thing to address—–GET RID OF GARDINER and his last 4.4 mil contract so you can sign Necas. Package Gardener with one of the draft picks from Philly and get back the Canes legend Future Considerations!!!!! Chatty is NHL ready with Bear/Cohgland(sp?)on the third pair. Slavin may show more offense being paired with someone who can also play defense this year. Pesce is a very underrated beast!!! He covers some of Skjei's mistakes who has less and less of them every year. I am not worried about the Canes D unless Gardiner plays. Goaltending= We all saw it! Great and then they got injured. We all knew it was only a matter of time. It happened at the worst time of the year. We will see Koochy at some point. He is going to be a great one and fun to watch as he has a mean side to him. He may be the Canes toughest player!
The Canes have more moves to make to get under the cap.
Go Canes!
nino and TDA disappeared in the playoffs and the entire second half of the season. adding Burns and Patches absolutely makes this team better. Trocheck was obviously leaving as soon as the team signed KK to that massive deal
HOLD THE FUCK UP you just said Brett Pesce is unremarkable? wow, further confirming how underrated he is.
The Canes biggest weakness did not get addressed – toughness…
pretty sure one of those tweets about necas was me lol. i use “but that’s just me” a lot.
but i expect a much improved canes team. i think burns is a much better fit as a top pair defenseman. deangelo was miscast there and it put too much on the shoulders of pesce and skjei. now the hurricanes have two excellent shutdown pairs and will be even tougher to create against.
offensively, i expect jarvis to take a leap and show how much of a star he really is. so much skill and compete – i love that kid. then if svech takes a step forward (odds are he will), and necas can bounce back from his year-delayed sophomore slump (which, by the way, svech also had) for his own breakout year, the canes will be insanely deep and talented. i know that sounds like a lot of ifs but i don’t see any of them as outlandish. i’m super excited to see the team this year.
One little note on Necas, whether or not he will be playing with the Hurricanes again has yet to be determined, since he has yet to resign.
I fully believe that Aho can break the 45 goal line next year. Turbo will get 70+ points and Svech will score 40 goals with 65+ points. But those are just my predictions.
They're still overrated
Idk we just need to get a little bit luckier
