This slump has been so long I didn’t realize he’s spent more time being below ppg than being above it

A bit of a meandering career thus far, hopefully
For all our sakes the story has another twist in a good direction

That’s…fairly consistent when you look at it that way. But man is he up and down.

Will preface to say I continue to believe in Petey, however…
His pace slowing so significantly during peak years in his career is troubling. Not reading into injuries, coaching or otherwise but just an overall observation.

McKenna will fix him. we will get 100pt EP40 back when we win the lottery.

Why they gotta be like that on his big day

Doesn’t matter, he’s paid to be a top 5 scorer in the NHL and cant hack it.
While I dont blame the player for signing to the money. What’s any of us going to do, say no to more money? But like… the NHL is a hard cap, so it’s a pie chart percentage of the cap.
If his cap hit was half of what it is now, his production is acceptable, not good, acceptable.

You need to add a little bit of context, in that the quality of the team around him got absolutely worse in the past 2 years. That does definitely have an impact to his reduced production rate, but it’s still objectively worrying.

Hes just a powerplay merchant now, when was his last even strength goal? How many 5on5 points in 2026?

It’s a shame he’ll never be what he used to be, i miss that petey

I remember years ago being hyped to see the monster Pettersson would be at 26-29 years old. I did not see this fall coming. Weird it came with no significant injury history and in what should be his prime age range. Very odd situation. Hopefully he can find it again..

I just want to know what injury he had and more transparency, I feel that’s what messed him up and I want to believe the organization fucked him up as they have players before. Maybe aqualoonie paid 11.6 as hush money.

People say they continue to believe in Petey.
I don’t .. and tonight showed why. Near the end of the second period. The opening of the third period. He might be okay as a power play merchant, but as an all around player his utility is questionable.

Honestly one of the biggest anomalies in sports I’m aware of. The sudden drop off during his prime is genuinely bizarre and sad.
