I don’t think we give up a 1st, Nemec, AND Mercer, I think that’s too much value heading to Toronto. Knies is great, but if Mercer comes back and has 50 points next season, plus Nemec continues to improve…plus a 1st…Knies would have to become a PPG player to have it be equal value.

Brady or Kyrou I give up that package for, but I think Knies is a notch below them.

Trading Nemec would be a terrible idea. Trading him plus more for Knies would be even worse. Knies is good but considering Nemec is getting consistently better we would need Knies to play way above where he’s at now.

It’s unlikely Nemec is here next year. The Devils need a top 6 winger that fits our window. Nemec has enough success where other teams are willing to acquire him. If the Devils have a position of strength it is defense. Nemec is an RFA, he is going to want good money. Money we don’t have, money that could go towards acquiring Quinn. Casey and Silyev could be the 7th defenseman for a more cap friendly number. I don’t want to give up Nemec, but it’s a way to get out of this ditch Fitzy put us in.

I wouldn’t give up a 1st plus Nemec for Knies. 1 for 1 deal only.

I think that we probably should trade Nemec — his overall play doesn’t justify the contract he’s going to require, and having already made the decision to pay Luke Hughes I don’t think we can afford to have so much tied up in the two of them long term.

I don’t think Fitzgerald should be allowed to make that trade. Let a new GM use this as the jumping off point for a new direction (similar to how the Isles let Darche decide what to do with Noah Dobson.)

Leafs fan here. We love Kniesy. Fanbase would hate this trade at every angle.

This brain dead organization does not deserve my time. I quit the nba in the early 2000’s, and the nfl in 2018. Maybe I should be completely free of sports; *what value does it bring to my life*?

First, nemo, and mercer for knies? Yeah I’m good.

Hard pass on a deal that’s Nemo, and Mercer and others

  10. Anyone on this club should be available. You see what you can get. I like Nemo a lot. But I can see he has holes in his game. Who doesn’t really. The thing is. We have one other puck moving defenseman. So if we trade him our defense is a very slow defensive group. You need a few guys who can carry the puck and get it out of the zone. While Nemo should get us the most in a trade I would personally try to trade either Dillon or Kovy. They are redundant. Clearly you look to trade Hamilton but it seems they have for about a year. You certainly can’t trade Nemo and Hamilton as you do need some offensive defenseman on your team. See what Nemo is really wanting and decide from there if he needs to be traded.

We need help up front. That’s very obvious. But our D isn’t great either.

Yes!!!!! Get him and Mactavish. It’ll secure both LW top 2 lines. It’ll also give us center depth since Mactavish plays both.

This is opinion and speculation being presented as news

Toronto desperately needs defensive help. And cheap help. Devils don’t need to include Mercer and their 1st to get Knies. A straight up trade of Nemec for Knies will work. Maybe smaller pieces to complete the trade.

Save the Mercer, Nemec, and 1st-rounder for Robertson, Brady, or any top player under 30.

Team wants Stamkos, their mid-ranger 1st-round pick should work.

Kyrou is another straight up trade for Nemec. Maybe smaller pieces, but don’t give up Mercer and a 1st.

Once again our GM is giving too much and getting too little. One for one or nothing.

Look trading Nemec is dumb as hell.

However, I think one thing that everyone forgets about the Nemec trade angle is the question, “Does Nemec want to actually play here long term?” If the answer is no then yes pursue a trade.

Is he under contract control right now and is forced to play with us? Yes. But he also is worth the most when he’s under team control.

We gotta get Fitzgerald outta here man

I thought Ftiz was hell bent on getting of Dougie?

I hope he isn’t with the organization long enough to be able to trade either, but as much of the Dougie fan I am, trading Dougie makes more sense than trading Nemo. Then again, I’ve since learned to trust absolutely nothing I read on nj.com

Of course, it would be better to trade Kovy than either of them, but that Fitz for all of the NTCs.
