If the Sabres are planning on giving Timmins / Kesselring a look with Stanley the next few games it is totally fine to send Metsa down and have him help Rochester make a playoff push

  2. billsmafia5366

What the fuck…..? Send Stanley to Rochester, not Metsa.

  3. Nearby-Data7416

Might as well play big minutes in AHL, if he was going to sit here.

  4. elkaroo

Jarmo’s gonna force feed that Schenn -stanley pair just to make his mark isn’t he

The leading theory is Lindy is gonna get other guys some ice time to get them prepped for playoffs. Guess this get Metsa some time too.

Absolutely crazy move, he’s been playing great.

  9. ModernPoultry

    No fucking way.

In a lesser sense this feels like benching Doug Flutie for Rob Johnson

Metsa has played great and has earned his roster spot. I don’t care that he’s not 6’7.

This feels like a Jarmo decision trying to sunk cost his Stanley trade and not allowing Lindy to play the better player

This better be them trying to help Roch, and just tinkering with pairing the other guys (Timmins/Kesselring/Stanley). Hope to fuck Metsa is back and starting for us in the Playoffs

Is Stanley eligible for the AHL? Good god I didn’t like his game yesterday

  11. kenfury

Id rather him playing in the AHL than sitting in the pressbox

Do waivers not apply after the deadline? It must just be an icetime thing

  13. sharkbait2147

Lots of Dmen, playoffs are a near lock, might as well play around with the combos to find the best pair for when it really matters. If he’s needed come playoffs I’m sure he will be back. If I see a Schenn-Stanley pairing in the playoffs and Metsa is healthy I will eat these words.

Can we turn the damn temperature down? Please?

It is beyond reasonable to give Timmons and Kesselring a tune up before the playoffs start.

Metsa is the only defenseman we can send down to the AHL, and it’ll probably be better for him to keep taking games in Rochester than wearing a suit in Buffalo.

For the first time in forever we actually real depth on the blue line here. Metsa will be back. This is an amazing problem to have.

fellas, i’ll let you in on a secret here. even though when you listen to Lindy in interviews he says all the time « we’re focused on the next game », it’s actually not true that they only make decisions aimed at maximizing their chances of winning the next game. Lindy is not being completely forthright with the press in those interviews. that’s okay.

In the simplest view, Metsa has earned his spot.

We don’t NEED to give all of Timmons, Kesselring, Stanley (or god forbid Schen) ice time prior to the playoffs, that’s not really necessary. These are pros. It’s their job to be ready when called on.

I had assumed these acquisitions were depth pieces we needed for a deep playoff run. Now Metsa is on the outside looking in, and that doesn’t make the team better.

  17. SchmidtJChristopher

Because he’s a replacement level player that doesn’t need to be waived

  18. mjandrr

I’m so glad Logan « but he’s tall » Stanley stays on the roster, but Metsa gets sent down

  19. beef4206977

He was becoming too powerful they need to check his ego before the playoffs

  20. I hate to see him not in the lineup but I get it. Hopefully it’s not long though

  21. Training_Storage_444

I’d be more interested to see what Metsa can do with more minutes at this level than what shitters can do in case of multiple injuries

  22. Secure_Quit962

Brutal. Roster spot had to open and he’s the only one who doesn’t need to clear waivers. They need him, though. More than Timmins. And CERTAINLY more than Schenn. It’s disappointing.
To be clear, I’m absolutely not saying we should be trying to get one of the other guys to clear waivers, but nonetheless it feels like poor organizational planning including Schenn in the trade without cohesive planning and foresight. An additional late pick would’ve been ideal. FO has equally made their lives *very* difficult this summer and we will likely end up losing out on some money that we are unable to extract a return for.
Also, people seem to be getting complacent and forgetting that we still need to string together consistent points down the stretch.
    1. To officially make the playoffs.
    And
    2. Seeding will be much more of a factor than people may assume, come playoff nerves in late April. We are better off without “needing” to face Carolina if we can avoid it. If we are able to avoid a D2/D3 matchup, even better.
