For how terrible Lankinen’s numbers have been, it’s somewhat a relief that he’s (1) not injured himself facing so many shots and (2) is taking the brunt of the abuse instead of letting Tolo get pelted
Top right baby!!
Adam Foote masterclass
Eliiiiiiite tank commander

Crazy how experience (age of team) maps so cleanly to quality of D. Not perfectly of course, but all the young rebuilding teams are with us in the shitty quadrant (but we’re #1!) while most of the good quadrant are veteran teams. I think it’s what I like most about defensive play in hockey. Goal scoring and playmaking are all about raw talent, but defense is a measure of hockey IQ, effort, and experience.
All that to say, we’re where we are in part due to Foote’s *interesting* coaching style for sure, but we’re also super young after offloading so many contracts, especially on our blue line. Even with a great coach, expect us to live in this quadrant for a couple seasons.
Top right is good right
My eyes darting around the edges of the clustered team knowing we’d be at an extreme before seeing how much of an outlier we are…
This is like golf where high scores are the goal, right? /s
It took me far too long to realize what this was / what sub I am in lmao
I’m sitting here thinking « why the fuck are Minnesota in Sounders colors and the Sounders are in Minnesota colors? »
I am stupid.
Wow. That’s … Uh … Not good.
Ottawa being one of the best teams in the league and barely in a wildcard is so crazy
In a league where goaltending is less important than ever, theirs managed to be bad enough to almost tank their season anyway lol
It makes sense because back in his playing days, Adam Foote was just a dumb powerforward who only knew how to score goals and couldn’t give two shits about defense.
