Its only too many men if you actually touch the puck with too many men on the ice. If the wild coughed up the puck and tkachuk was still on the ice it would be a too many men.
Sometimes there’s inconsistencies. That’s my best answer.
You know why
It’s a little difficult to see since the photo is blurred, but if you zoom in closely, you’ll notice there’s a Florida Panthers logo on Tkachuk’s jersey.
Head office daddy
Jfc guys. They’re already dead. Its a sloppy line change. It happens. You don’t have to post every single thing just because it says Panthers on the jersey.
Pretty sure JT Miller does this too.
It’s called the slow change for a reason. As long as the guy on the ice remains behind the play, it’s not a problem.
There are ways the Wild could easily draw a call, like not attacking and backing off, doing anything where Tkachuk would suddenly not be behind the play would result in an instant penalty.
But this line change happens almost everyday in every game in the NHL. It’s risky because if the guy getting off reads things wrong, it’s a penalty (like if possession changes or he suddenly isn’t behind the play).
As long as he doesn’t touch the puck and lot of refs will let it go. There no way to accurately guess 5 feet so its a judgemental call
Too many men will get called out if you touch the puck or put the opponent at a disadvantage, otherwise it usually slides. The refs and most fans who don’t have a chip on their shoulder about the Panthers know this.
Love that the conspiracy theory’s have devolved to blurry photos. We are now the Bigfoot of the NHL
It is. The refs don’t always call it. This is an egregious change.
It all depends on where the puck is and who has possession.
Basically if the puck comes near him and he engages they get a too many men penalty.
Basically Chucklehead is taking a big chance on getting his team a penalty. 🤷🏻♂️🥳🥳
Refs will ignore long changes (or slow changes) as long as two conditions are met: (1) the team changing with an « extra » player for a few seconds doesn’t fave possession of the puck / doesn’t even touch the puck (as was mentioned above if the Panthers were to intercept the puck it’s almost an automatic penalty). And also (2) the player changing is behind the play / has no impact on the play (like if Tkachuk is running interference on a Wild player it’s also usually called as a penalty).
Basically, as long as the extra player is not there more than a few seconds, while the team changing doesn’t have the puck and there’s no advantage to the extra man, refs will let it go.
But in this case, it’s probably a Florida thing
The answer starts with F and ends in ers
anyone have the clip? dont doubt op but this Pic doesn’t show anything
This pic doesn’t show his replacement, the guy at the bench is going off the ice. He would be facing the play, going over the boards if he was dumbchucks replacement. But Florida does get away with everything.
just because the panthers have given up doesn’t mean the refs have
I’ve noticed a few more slow changes this season but nothing really impacting the outcome of the play. What I have seen is the intense amount of interference plays not being called. Puck is 20+ ft down the ice and the opposing player is actively stopped from chasing it.
I thought they were increasing last year but this season is ridiculous.
They cheated their way into two cups why would they stop now
Just pass it to a Florida player, and give them a penalty lol
