What do you think of this sigining?
It will be just like when rask was #1 have cost effected back ups …Court you should talk about what's going on with Linus ullmark in ottawa.
Love this signing! I've been enjoying watching Korpi play better because it means we might be able to get a valuable piece for him. I'm hoping that if DiPietro does come in that he's worked on his mental game and is ready for another shot. You've been talking about it a lot lately because of the hate on Swayman that being a goalie in Boston is tough, talent alone is not enough and DiPietro has to prove he's mentally resilient. Gotta give him a chance if we want to find out though, i think he's got the talent to be an NHL goalie.
Thanks for the update.
You'd think that teams like Edmonton would be knocking down our doors. This is the perfect video for me. I saw this signing and was like "who tf is this guy?". Thanks for the info. And I agree that Korpi isn't getting the credit he deserves. He's had a couple of bad stretches so his numbers aren't the very best, but there are some important games in there where he has kept the B's in the game. It'll be interesting to see how this goes.
Dom makes an excellent point in his article – this means they likely don't bother drafting a goalie in June, and can focus their selections on shoring up other areas of need. My educated guess here is that the draft in June will be defensively heavy for the Bruins. If that TO pick is handed over in June we might be looking at Reid, Carels, Smits or Rudolph on the defensive side and all four of those guys look incredible.
I thought we signed the goalie from quinipiac too
I agree with you, I think they wanted to move on from Korp this year, but Dipietro looked like hot garbage in the preseason.
As a Merrimack alumni, this was awesome to see!! Rooting for Lundgren
We need the cap space to sign another defense 1st defenseman. Lohrei sucks
He is 23
Loooove this move, can never have enough goalie talent
Lundgren is legit. Big. In position. Boring goalies are 👍
Trade Korp for better defense than LOHREI who gets dominated by high school players. Bring up Deeep..slot open in Providence for the kid
it means ciao. lol.
What you fail to mention is that the Bruins defense is terrible especially the left side.
Great signing . Though I do question still next years back up. Keep in mind the schedule goes up to 84 games. Goalies rarely play over 60+ games now and I dont trust DiPietro to play 25+ games . Who knows with Korpi
Having a great year, good pickup by Don!
Let the goalies play over the summer and determine their order in the organization themselves. Once that is clear, then Don has an easier choice to make.
And we have Simon Zajicek, 18gp 2.34 gaa. .919 sv% 12-5-1. Looks solid. If the Bruins promote DiPietro we already have the pipeline pieces to support the move.
Trade Swayman and move DiPietro up to Boston. Lundgren would be Providence’s new goalie albeit as a backup for Zajicek.
Hard to draft goalies…Hellebuyck was a 5th round pick of the Jets and he's arguably one of the best Gs in the world today.
This is where college players get a chance to prove themselves, I think him and Svedeback are going to compete for a roster spot in Providence I think Lungren will get that spot and Sevedback might have to play in Maine first which isn’t a bad thing. Look at Colton Ellis of Buffalo he played a good 3 years in the ECHL. He didn’t impress right off the bat but he developed and started in Springfield for a year and did a solid job for a not so solid team, St. Louis messed up and put him on waivers so Buffalo took the opportunity and got a really solid backup.
Great info Court! I was at the BC vs Merrimack game, so I got to see him up close and everything you described was spot on. I think it's a strong signing by the Bruins. I do wonder if it means they don't have tons of faith in Simon Zajicek, but we shall see. Dipps size concerns me, but he has been fantastic in Providence. Working with Goalie Bob if he becomes the backup to Sway can only help his play.
Torts is a jerk.
Court – I dont claim to know any of the guys in the minors, but I thought you had said consistently that DiPietro was not an NHL goalie? Did I get that wrong?
Obviously the team missed on Bussi
They also have Philip Svedebäck who is graduating from Providence College this year too.
