I’m rich in spirit
With the Canucks luck, we are getting the Binance founder if there is ever an ownership change.
Seems like Rogers is buying all the stadium naming rights maybe they’ll buy all the teams too
We can obviously cross out Bob Gaglardi because the Aquillinis would likely rather commit family suicide than sell the team to him.
Best case out of this group would likely be Jim Pattison, but the man is on death’s door and buying a 1.5b sports franchise isn’t on the cards.
Absolute worst case would be Chip Wilson or Changpeng Zhao. Both are money pinching gremlins and would almost certainly exert more control over the team than the Aquillinis.
What’s not listed here obviously are potential group buys, like what Ryan Reynolds tried to do with Ottawa.
There’s an obvious fit for him here, but coming up with that money will likely be even harder than it did with Ottawa.
If only I had put $1000 on bitcoins back in 2010… /s
Maybe consider a Seattle based purchaser who could help with a rebrand? 😏
Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac
Toigo and Wilson should be co-owners. At least Toigo has a hockey mind.
I don’t see the combined networth of r/canucks on this list.
Mayor Kenny Sims should submit a bid on behalf of the vancouver tax payers.
Fuck all of them, bring in Reynold and buble as coowners lol
Aquilini seeking to Chip Wilson is fun monkey paw scenario to think about.
Go full Vancouver and do it publicly-owned. I get to make the first trade because I have the pink equity card.
we should just start a GoFundMe and let the fans own and run the franchise.
A Seattle base owner could work McCaw wasn’t a terrible owner spent money but was just not there mentally wasn’t in it for the game, but get someone who loves hockey could create grudge matches with Seattle making the Seattle owner wanting to spend on the team from practice arena to just about anything to be better then the kraken.
Were screwed
You guys forgot Ryan Beedie the real estate developer. Back in the day, he wanted to buy the team.
Pattison owned the WHA Blazers.. Not a,good, experience
You need,local and very rich
Not a Chip Wilson fan but would he actually be,a bad owner?
Fuck it. There are around 200k members in this sub. If we all chip in about $7,500, we can buy the team for Michael Buble. Or even less if he can chip in some of that Christmas Album dough
Give me a Ryan-Reynolds-led coalition over any of these guys any day. Alternatively, I’d love it if a publicly traded company (like Rogers did the Maple Leafs) bought the franchise. It would be fun to own a piece of it (I suppose I own a piece of the Leafs already).
Why can’t the fans pitch in to buy the team? I’d chip in $100 to buy it and I’m sure we can find a ton of people who would
Btw it’s #7.
Why don’t we ask the newly elected ndp head to make all Canadian teams owned by the government, so we can bring Stanley home again?
Ryan? Please?
How much bubly so we need to buy for Buble to make it happen
What a fucking collection of dirtbags. I’d rather see them all fired into the Sun
The most likely billionaires to buy the team would be the Washington family, the owners of Seaspan.
If you’ve ever been to Lonsdale Quay and seen the massive yacht parked near there with a helicopter on it. That’s his.
Old man Dennis Washington is reportedly worth $7B and is 91
His son Kyle runs the company now, is a Canadian citizen, and was a long time sesson ticket holder down in the club seats (not sure if he still is)
The problem is that Aqualini doesn’t want to sell the arena. It’s been said a few times that he’s willing to sell the team but nobody wants it without the building.
Maybe Brad Treveling can ask his dad to buy the team?
The City of Vancouver should buy the team.
