Different conferences.
Rangers are in the Eastern Conference, Blackhawks are in the West. Each conference has their own bracket, so their elimination times aren’t the same.
Blackhawks have 8 games left, which if they win them all would put them at 83 points.
Utah and Nashville currently have the wildcard spots in the West with 82 and 77 points, respectively. If either team lost the rest of their games and Chicago wins all of theirs, Chicago would make the playoffs. (Utah and Nashville have a game remaining against each other, so they can’t *both* lose out)
Different conferences. The West is much weaker than the East this year
