I think Steve is pretty off-base here. I left the Press Conference cautiously optimistic, specifically due to their openness to different management structures, candidates, and a renewed focus on data/analytics, and I think Steve is getting mad/focusing on the wrong things. I actually usually like his takes but this one just isn’t resonating with me.
I wish he would stop the clap talk thing. I can’t unsee it anymore

He is right about one thing. Pelley is way over his head in believing he can personally run all of MLSE sports franchises

all this press conference taught me is that the leafs desperately need a POHO. Pelley needs to be fully hands-off of the team
I feel like I am at an impasse.
I have been a leafs fan for many years. I had one of those leafs score board ceiling lights as an 8 year old kid and a poster of Doug Gilmore when he was an A.
But as a 38 year adult, I am having trouble focusing on the jersey of the team I cheer for, and not the absolute dogshit organization that runs them. That when I say “I am a leafs fan” that I am also saying “I am supportive of this dog water, Rogers owned franchise that is also run by someone who’s shows up to a press conference and spews absolute bullshit”.
If you also feel like that, how do you do it?

Tulsky’s scientific career before hockey had nothing to do with AI. He’s not a computer scientist, he’s a chemist and physicist who worked in nanotechnology.

Pelley is way more visible than he needs to be – I guess because our team is in such a shit state. Really he should just hire a decent president and then stay out of everything because nobody wants to see/hear from the president of mlse, they want to hear from each team’s management. His/Rogers’ own fault for getting rid of all the president positions for each team.

They’re hiring Doug Armstrong. We all know it. We all knew Treliving was being fired. We all know Bérubé is getting fired. We all knew Marner was not resigning.
Why the fuck are they paying a search firm a shit ton of money to hire Doug Armstrong.
Talking about the importance about AI is a tell he is way too entrenched in the corporate world. Hes just buying into the same buzzwords as his CEO buddies.
The only thing that gives me hope is that it sounds like he’s going to hire someone else to make all the hockey decisions. They desperately need a president this time around so he can stay far away from the hockey stuff.

I sometimes wonder how people get into these positions. In Pelleys case it’s just that he’s a yes man because it can’t be due to competency.
My votes Steve Dangle for next GM
He’s actually quite reserved in this one. I’ve stepped away because he was screaming usually but thought let’s see. He’s not wrong in anything he said and as someone who agrees, at least Pelley is getting a firm to do the search, ‘cause it’s evident Keith doesn’t have a clue.
