Took him some time to shake the rust off but he seems back.

He’s a two way player but I think this emphasizes the importance of him being our « defensive defenseman ». Hutson is sometimes caught out of position, but he makes up for the occasional lapse with contributing to way more goals. Matheson and Dobson are a stable unit. And the Hutson pairing usually has more possession. Which leaves Guhle as more the shutdown/PK guy, if he’s off, our team loses that huge defensive presence.

I dont know how to feel about this

Either this is the true form of Ghule and I want him for his whole cheap contract

Either he will be at all time value to trade him for a 2C or top4 RHD before the draft or this summer

notably, the entire first line was NOT on the ice for a single goal against either in that period either.

This is insane cuz they have completely shut down he opponent while also being the most productve line in the league at the same time lol

I didn’t check how often Guhle was deployed with the first line.

  6. And doing it quietly and under the radar but believe it doesn’t go unappreciated. Took a few games but now we see the Guhle we want and need. 👏👏

  7. he’s our most reliable d-man despite not being flashy at all and he’s much more important than what people think

  8. trebuchetwarmachine

Exactly who we need him to be. If this guy stays healthy his contract is a steal. Now all we need is Reinbacher to pan out as a solid defender and our backend will be lethal

  9. He was really struggling for a bit this season but has been solid the last 2 weeks

I’m so glad that there is literal data to back up the claim I made from pure memory and hyper focusing on Guhle shifts.

Its also even more impressive when you consider that Guhle plays the types of minutes that makes goals against highly likely (top 6 opposing forwards and defensive zone starts)

  11. He heard all those people talking shit. Everyone gave Monty like 3 months of rope saying he’s coming back from injury, meanwhile guhle got like 3 games lol.

  12. Whiskeylung

It’s been day and night for him, I’m really happy for him for finding his game because he was honest about how he wasn’t happy with his game when he returned.

If he played for the Leafs he’d be sent to Vancouver for a bag of chips, a coke and a 7th Rounder.

Guhle hitting his stride right before the playoffs is exciting. Because we still do need someone else in the Top 4 to eat defensive minutes after Matheson/Dobson

Yes caliss, that’s the Ghule we know. I know none of the nuanced folks on here gave up on the guy, but the chatter was present. I’m so glad he’s bounced back. He’ll be killer in the playoffs, fucking already picturing him twitching on the bench.

  16. Well nothing against him (his lil bro’s playing on a team with a friend of mine’s son!), but in that stretch we allowed what, 5 goals? The whole team has good stats lol.

Wish him the best. I feel like he’s not there yet somehow.

  17. This ghoul is ready to haunt other teams in the playoffs

  18. hockeynoticehockey

The numbers don’t show how hard his minutes are. He both gives and takes a beating to his body. I’m glad to see him play the way he does but he also has a history of injuries so every time he’s hit I shudder.
