Wow….just wow. If I were a player I'd be figuring out how to get on his roster. Anyone that genuine and passionate about family, dogs and horses is a genuinely good person. Buy in, Knights….this could be a really good ride. Go Knights go…..

Most hockey fans have never dug deep into who Torts is as a person beyond being a coach who yells and swears a lot and can be tough on players.
He's not perfect, and he rubs certain guys the wrong way, but all in all, he does seem like a very nice guy (outside of hockey). Followed his career, more or less, since 2004. He had a lot fewer gray hairs back then. I was only 12 back them. Now I have gray hairs of my own. Time flies.

Serious respect for Bruce Cassidy and how great of a coach he was for VGK. He deserves to be remembered as a great, who brought us our cup. This has been a mediocre last seasons though, and with a veteran team, we know they can play better. Torts seems to be focused on unlocking that potential. Canucks game had sparks, our boys started looking like their quick lethal selves again. Hoping for more! Go Knights GO!
As a Flyers fan, I loved Torts as a coach. I felt they moved on too soon from him. You always had the feeling that he cared, even sometimes too much. Can't wait to see what he does in Vegas. It could be the boost that the team needs.
And thus, a new era begins in Vegas. A sincere heartfelt thank you to Bruce Cassidy…we will never forget sir how you came here the season after the VGK missed the playoffs for the first time, and took our team all the way to the Stanley Cup.
I must say I'm pleasantly surprised and impressed with Torts in this interview. I never knew this side of him, and I really like how his face just lights up with enthusiasm when acknowledging this opportunity and when talking about his love and commitment to animals.

Torts is a hard coach not to like, even though, he has the reputation of being difficult to deal with. The reality is he’s just super real and honest, which a lot of players can’t handle. I wish him luck in Vegas and hope it works out!

As a VGK fan…the coaching change shock has wore off, If there is any blame this season…it's the front offices fault this late in the season. But hey, it's the VGK, we've done some amazing things right out of the gate. Great interview and we've gained some insight. Your our coach now and you have a fan base like no other in the history of the NHL. Hopefully, one day, you can experience the parade for NY NY to T-Mobile. Welcome to the VGK.

Torts looks old man jacked
As a lifelong Flyers fan one thing I noticed is that Torts is a good human being, albeit a spazz at times. Nothing new for me when you grow up with two Italian-American families w/ lots of aunts and uncles. He’ll do a good job for Vegas, he did good for Philly, I just don’t think he’s the long term solution for a rebuild.
Torts is back where he wants to be, behind the bench coaching an NHL franchise. And you could sense the anticipation in him coaching a team in the west for the first time after spending so many years coaching in the east. I've always been a Bruins fan for life, but became a fan of the VGK the moment the league expanded to Vegas. Wish him well, and can't wait for the VGK to push their way through the playoffs!
Torts was an assistant coach on The USA Olympic Gold Medal Team 2026. Pretty good resume.
If anything you have to respect Torts. He gets his players motivated. I respect the man for what he told his players, when all the football and other sports were kneeling during the National Anthem. He took a stand and told team if they sat during the anthem they would sit on the bench the entire game. He did change his policy 4 years later. But I respect a coach, that wont tolerate nonsense.
It’s crazy Tort’s is still getting head coaching jobs over some younger upcoming coaches. He must be well liked in the hockey world and must be very organized.
