  1. I just need a GM who has the balls to commit to a rebuild, no retooling when our drawer is empty. We can’t get our first round picks back but we can maximize our cupboards by cleaning out the roster

  2. I’ve seen people floating his name as a potential AGM candidate.

Honestly, my criteria at this point is « have a plan. » Come in with ideas ready to be implemented, moves ready to be made, and a clear vision of where you want this team to go and how to get there. I don’t want a lame duck GM, I don’t want someone who needs to wait a few months to « do their homework. » I want someone with a plan.

If you can do that, great, welcome aboard. Even if the plan doesn’t work, have the decency to ***have*** one.

The Leafs will do everything except hire a GM with a proven track record in the position.

  4. Why do we need Sunny Mehta when we have Daniel Negranu at home?

  5. ParticularWallaby247

He’s American, check with Steve Dangle and Cathal Kelly to ensure they are ok with it?

  6. Great option. Smart, ambitious, and he has a decade of experience in the NHL now.

Going from Treliving to Mehta is like swapping Benoit in the lineup with Heiskanen

  8. What’s wrong with Pridham? Feel like he’s been so loyal to the org and always passed over?

  9. A lot easier to look like a cap genius when you have no state tax, great weather and an ambivalent hockey market to draw players who will sign for millions less than a Canadian market. The analytics are there no matter what but being able to compare apples to apples markets to put those analytics into practice is not.

I don’t think Mehta’s verticals match his horizontals, I think this team needs a fresh new GM and not someone recycled.

    What’s his plan?

“We’re gonna win the Stanley Cup” is something we’ve all heard before.

    Another analytics Dubas type?

I hope he has better negotiating skills.

Find a 30 year old who has grown a business from zero to 100 employees. Hockey knowledge is a “nice to have” and not a firm requirement. Give them a shot.

Devils fan living in Ontario here.

I’m unsure about Methas responsibilities as AGM in Florida.

However he basically built the largest (at the time) analytics department as our Head of Analytics working for Ray Shero.

After his departments opinions were ignored by Fitzgerald about things like signing Palat he went to Florida.

I know theres a decent contingentnof Devils fans who want Metha to replace Fitz.

If the Leafs are serious about taking a new analytical approach Metha with Pridham as President would be amoung the strongest combos.

I’m open to anything just be better than shanny or brad

I don’t really care if this guy is analytics driven or eye test driven but I just think plucking an AGM from a successful team is a smart idea.

Obviously it will end up blowing up in our faces because *Leafs* but it’s a smart move.
