    wtf. I liked Roy a lot. This should not have been done. First time since the start of the season they lose more then 3x. Roy was doing a great job. 1 bad streak shouldn’t have cost him job. This is messed up. These coaches are all Roy’s guys anyway.

    I hated roy so much but this is kinda a crazy time to do this. Love the hire tho.

    I was kind of over Patrick but I have to admit I don’t like this hire at all. He’s best known for chewing out goalies everywhere he goes when the team loses and this team is very heavily reliant on Sorokin. His treatment of Lehner in Vegas was outright gross and his treatment of Oettinger in Dallas was unprofessional

    I did not expect this already. Surely they should have waited until either the end of the season or at least until it was clear we were eliminated from playoff contention? What’s the point in doing this now?

    Hiring the guy who called out and blamed his failures on his goalie was certainly a choice. DeBoer doesn’t last with teams. Not thrilled with this when we could have taken the hit, gone to the off-season and seen what’s actually available.

    Maybe unpopular opinion but I don’t feel like it’s Roy’s fault that the team just chooses to play inconsistent hockey and I doubt that a head coach change is going to suddenly correct that.

    firing the coach with 4 games left is desperation when the issue is a lack of talent on the roster. don’t really think roy was helping the cause but the team is just not good enough

    Isn’t he known for a veteran friendly guy? Not much into development. Not another “vets” first crap

    If they missed I didnt see Roy make it to next year and rightfully so. The roster needs a lot of help and Darche didnt do himself any favors with Palat Schenn JG extension and not trading Lee/Pageau. HOWEVER this team hasnt been up for weeks and thats on Roy. PDB is an immediate upgrade.

    I do not know that I agree with firing Roy in the manner that they did. It’s an offseason move, he shouldn’t coach the 2026-27 islanders but with 4 games left leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Deboer is fine but is part of the old boys club, not worth rushing a hire for

    I won’t cry for Roy as I thought he was a pretty average coach, but this moves reeks of desperation. This will be a terrible look for Darche if they miss the playoffs imo
