I really really hope the Flames avoid Belchetz in the draft this year if the Flames drop in the lottery.
Barely a point per game while having such a tremendous size advantage over opponents just screams bust to me
I ranked Malhotra at 3 because center is our weakest position organizationally and I would much rather we select him over one of the D at the top of the draft.
If we don’t get top 3, I’d like us to take Maholtra. We need as much centre depth as possible
I’m a bit of Reid/Malhotra skeptic. Not that they won’t have make it, but I think both are being significantly overvalued. Doesn’t help that the OHL is quite weak and makes projecting offence at the next level tougher.
2027 is full of Cs, we take the best player available. If that’s a dman, it’s a dman. If we pick 3rd or 4th it’s gotta be verheoff or Reid.

In my armchair GM opinion best player available, positional need is used as a tie breaker.
I think if we dont select McKenna or Stenberg there’s a lot of possibilities with trading picks (and possibly players) to move around.
Like I hit the mock draft yesterday and we stayed at 3rd and the Blues 16th pick jumped to 6th. In that scenario would we trade our 3rd overall and our 17th OA plus a 2nd for their 6th and 9th, and get a Center and a LHD (like Malhotra and Carels)?
