Solid typo
Are blind as a ref or a bot? That door was closed
The guy had one job

Cooper had to have missed Holmberg hitting the closed door. It was opened well after the impact.
Edit: I withdraw my statement. I now see where the door opens enough for Holmberg to hit the door side of the wall with his shoulder. That doesn’t look good.
I swear 90% of people in here have never been in a hockey arena.
I understand being upset about the outcome of the freak accident, but come on, calling for the man to lose his job is too much. Every PB operator stands with the latch open to allow the guy in the box to get out ASAP. The play was quick and awkward. It happens in sports.
What about that god damn zamboni driver making the ice slippery?
Losing respect for a coach with a cool story. No need to be a douche bag and call on someone to lose their job over it.
He should lose his job. If you have to poop go to the bathroom don’t just do it on the ice where someone can fall into it
Would he call for their firing if this person was a friend or family member? We would all do better to have a little forgiveness for our fellow imperfect humans. I’m sure the guy feels terrible.
The Lightening players, their coach, and their dozen fans really whine a lot.
They (Coop and Hagel) would also be just as mad if their player was in the box and the penalty box operator refused to open the door to let them out because the play was going on right in front of the door.
Freak accident, dude shouldn’t lose his job over it. If anything a review of standard operating procedures for when the PB operator is allowed to unlatch the door. Every second counts so you see it all the time, the operators unlatch the door and then open it to allow the player a clean exit when time expires.
Feel’s a bit much. 1 and a half seconds left on penalty is pretty common for door to be unlatched and if he wasn’t allowed to be let out on time out of the box then this post would be a whole other issue. Not only that it looks like he jammed his shoulder more than a broken clavicle but well have to see what is reported. Sucks for TBL and the PBO but this just feels like a bad series of timing and events rather than him doing his job poorly.
Freak accident, caused buy a guy doing something he has done 1000 times over. Yes, he should have been aware of the play close to him, and should get scolded for it, but not fired. I’m willing to bet that had he closed the latch and opened the door 2 seconds after the penalty expired there would have been a shit storm (doo storm?) for that instead. Accidents happens, it sucks, but this was just that, an accident. A split second avoidable but understandable action that lead to a freak accident.
Brock Boeser broke his back pretty much in his rookie year from a similar play. His skating hasn’t been the same since
