@Devils du New Jersey

Probablement la plus grande raison pour laquelle Fitz est parti

Cette histoire de rédaction est tout simplement atroce. Aucun vrai joueur repêché après le top 10.

    Kind of a disingenuous stat. Lenni (2nd rounder) just signed his ELC for this season and looks like he’ll be a mainstay. Daws (3rd rounder) and Yegorov (2nd rounder) should be our future tandem. Casey (2nd rounder) is a valuable asset even if he doesn’t end up cracking our lineup. Edwards (4th rounder) is good defensive depth who Keefe has praised

  2. Lumping picks for every year together is so disingenuous.

  3. While certainly a stat that doesn’t help Fitzgerald, I would imagine his inability to make it to the playoffs on a more consistent basis, and get past round 2, was his primary reason for being let go.

    Yeah i mean you can’t really expect the picks from the last 2-3 drafts to be ready yet tho. You don’t know if Yegorov wins a fuckin Vezina for us one day yet

  5. not making the playoffs and not having the flexibility to add pieces because of NMC’s/NTC’s is the reason

  6. I mean. The NHL draft is a giant crap shoot more than almost any other sport. It also takes these guys 3-5 years to even sniff the big league

    Fitz only needs to be crucified for the first round. Looks like he actually listened to his analytics people from the 2nd round on.

    The lack of first round talent, however, is a death knell

    My guess is that most GMs draft success looks similar to this.

    I think the fact that he lost on the Quinn Hughes trade, didn’t make the playoffs, then we watched as playoff contenders made big coaching and front office moves with only weeks left in the season, is the reason he’s finally gone.

    This is one of those cherry picked screen grabs to make him look bad to people who don’t know better.

    10% of his draft picks made it to 100 games. Taking your statement that his draft record got him fired, that’s actually pretty good considering other GMs draft records

    Not listed is Nico Dawes who’s played 53 NHL games and due to a logjam will likely have to be traded to get more time, but has shown himself to be NHL ready. Seamus Casey also falls under the flag of needing to be traded to see some time in the NHL

    Shakir Mukhamudulin is at 78 NHL games and gave value in acquiring Timo Meier

    Daniil Orlov is still in the KHL but just had a 30 point season over there, so we may see him still become an impact player in the NHL

    Lenni Haameenaho only has 29 games under his belt but looks to be an NHL ready 2nd round pick

    The other thing you’re completely glossing over is aside from top 10 picks, realistically top 5 picks. Most drafted players need to finish their junior/NCAA career before making the transition to the AHL and then NHL. It’s not an overnight process, it takes years. Russian drafted players famously wont join their NHL teams for 3-6 years. At one point the Devils had one of the more enviable prospect pools in the NHL, what happened? Mercer, Holtz, Hughes and Nemec all became NHLers and dropped the prospect tag
