This is getting way too blown out of proportion. He just shrugged off the question. If he said he’d love to be here, then he loses leverage in contract talks and the man deserves to get paid. Everyone just relax

  2. whichwitch9

He doesn’t even know who his boss is gonna be yet. Chill, people

  3. Of course this will be blown up, but the team doesn’t have a GM right now. Why would he say anything that will give up leverage for what will likely be his biggest and most important contract?

    No reason for concern.

Ah yes. Just like every hockey player ever says. Classic

  5. We don’t have a gm atm for him to negotiate with what the fuck else do you want him to say

Nothing to see here. Seems like a standard answer to me. Nico’s job is to play hockey and be a team leader. It’s his agents job to negotiate an extension.

    1) there isn’t a new GM yet
    2) there isn’t a new POHO yet
    3) we might be losing a coach as well
    4) this is a very generic and consistent response from Hischier

if we’re looking to be upset about something just for the sake of being upset about something then go right ahead.

but let’s not act like any reasonable player in his position would not be responding similarly.

this does not automatically mean he wants to leave just like it doesn’t say he wants to stay. it actually says nothing other than what he says which is what he’s been saying when asked these questions.

As soon as the question was asked and he answered I *knew* this would happen. Sigh.. thanks Novo ! 🙄
Edit: sorry Nichols not Novo but same shit basically.

Whos ready for a nothingburger to be blown into a somethingburger for 3 days?

This is one reason I’m glad they parted ways with Fitz. Nico only has one more year, the organization needs to prove it’s serious about winning if they expect him to sign back up. You can tell he’s frustrated by the current state of affairs and as captain he’s taking it personally. I hope the org lives up to their statement yesterday and makes moves that prove they are serious about winning it all.

Edit: Just to clarify, I think this answer is a generic answer that shouldn’t be read into too much, but at the same time I don’t see him excited about resigning if we miss the playoffs again next year.

Not really concerned, what is he supposed to say “I want to only be here please sign me!” Guy is not going to give up leverage.

He also said earlier this year that it was his dream to win a Stanley Cup in New Jersey

  13. theminidevil1

This is a nothing burger, completely standard response

I just can’t imagine what we could really get for him that’s worth it?

Can someone paint a picture for me? Montreal maybe?
