Is it possible that Tre wanted to replace Berube but management did not want him to pick a new coach if they are not extending him. That could be why Berube is pissed and coaching to win.

I think taking the “C” off Tavares was a big mistake.
Thoughts on guys the Leafs could target:
– UFAs: MASON MARCHMENT, Scott Laughton, Mario Ferraro, RH 4th-liner who’s good on PK (Acciari, Kapanen, etc.), low-risk flier on a bounce-back candidate (Laine?)
– RW: Mavrik Bourque (offer sheet? Eat Seguin or Lyubushkin contracts + send them Nick Robertson?); Owen Tippett (Woll + Colorado 1st?)
– C: Barrett Hayton (one of the goalies? 1-2 non-1st round picks?)
– D: Pavel Mintyukov (Carlo + Colorado 1st or 2nd + B prospect maybe?); Dougie Hamilton (no idea how he might be valued, depends on retention + where he’s willing to waive for)

Culture doesn’t come from your 4th line center. Culture is set by your top 2-3 players. Nothing Lawton brings to the table negates the cultural inertia of #34, #88 & #44

Guys, I don't think Berube was allowed to enforce his standard and play the deserving players and do the matchups he really wanted to do. All the lines shuffling around – After the firing then they settle on Easton and Johnny. It all just didn't add up. For sure Laughton's ice time was limited by management…I simply don't get it and I don't believe for a second that C Johnny losing the C was the coach's doing nor was the Laughton ice time given was his fault. But I'm all for Berube staying. This all wreaks of having a control freak for a gm instead of a hockey guy. Stripping the C off of Johnny was so pathetic. All the alumni that said it was a great move…No, it wasn't! It was humiliating and it set a bad standard. Matthews was fantastic with the A. A lot of great players were A's
Tavares is still a number 2 centre – What is everybody smokin? It's the team chemistry that's the problem – He is still better than most team's number 1's

I absolutely don't care anymore what this team does. Every time they get close there's always someone to fk it up. This time it was Treliving. Take a page from Boston who didn't make the playoffs last year and now are one of the better team in the league. Montreal have drafted well and are now looking like a power house. The Leafs however are the Leafs and always will be the team that can't get it done.

I actually find the leafs hours way more enjoyable now that they are going to miss the playoffs. Less complaining about same things over and over that have been discuss ad nauseam.
