Couldn’t beat the division.
That’s why we’re not in the playoffs
I wonder if Markstrom played so poorly because with Fitz gone he’s concerned the incoming GM might want to get rid of him.
But then again, it’s about how well he played in almost every start this year.
Shame on Keefe for not pulling him.
We are who we thought we were. Hoping for a better showing for their last handful of games.
I got a temp ban for one of my comments which I appealed and I’m back, but I didn’t do my post game recap, so I’m doing it now:
* eliminated! we’re free! weeeee! no but actually what a horrible game to be eliminated in.
* this game perfectly showcases why I don’t think Keefe should be given another shot or even a short lease next season. he chose to keep Marky in net after an abysmal start. he chose to not make any changes in a game where we were facing elimination. he continued to roll out the fourth line which has done nothing the whole night until like there were five mins left in the period. he didn’t even attempt to load up on offense either by messing around D pairs or lines or anything to try to get a spark going.
* I know we weren’t gonna make the playoffs but like you wanna see fight and at least an attempt being made during the game that could eliminate us. And Keefe didn’t do anything different. He pulled the same shit he’s always pulled.
* we gotta talk about Marky bro. yes every goal against isn’t always on him, but just the fall off of a cliff all season long. from beginning to end it’s been a disaster. he’s had a handful of good games for us or games where he’s been good enough and we outscored his mistakes. but like if this is what we should be expecting then we’re right back to where we were from 21-24 where we are league avg goaltending away from competing
* seeing the Keefe quote after the game was so infuriating. you did this to us my dude! you did this! you could have made small adjustments all season long and you purposefully chose to put your head in the sand. I don’t believe these like “theories” that Fitzgerald directed him because here’s the first game without Fitz and Keefe is making the same stubborn moves he’s been making all season long. PULL MARKY MAN. Fucks sake. Your team is about to be eliminated! give them a shot!
* we have two lines. that’s it. we’re a team that hasn’t had four functioning lines since basically the 22-23 season. yes having Gritsy definitely gives us a third line which is great for next season. I hope we can promote guys like LaChance to make our fourth line an actual line next season.
* PP was horrible. PK gave up what ended up being the game winning goal.
* my highlight was Nemo taking that rookie down and then Brad Shaw patting him on the back for it.
* at least we didn’t give up a hatty!
just four more games left and we can all go into full panic mode in the off season.
They showed up like a team who’s GM just got fired and weren’t happy about it despite the delusions that some fans had that they would be celebrating it. You could tell from all the interviews that’s how it would go. Also this might be a little nit-picky, but there is a group of people yelling for Jack to become captain.. well where was he last night in post game media when his team just got eliminated from the playoffs? As a leader he should have been out there having to answer the dumbass questions along with Nico, but he wasn’t there, it was Brown out there. Being a captain isn’t just about the glory and giving Dillon a hug in the penalty box because he stood up for him, it’s about dealing with all the shit too and he hasn’t shown yet that he can do that.

It is baffling that Keefe truly appears to make zero adjustments ever in a game. If we win with him it’s either Jack and the offense really feeling themselves or just a broken clock kind of deal. Unplugged controllers all night, tough stuff.
