While it is a gut punch, it’s better to go out like this by shooting ourselves in the foot. At least the holes and failures are clear. Unlike last year where they went on that run and still missed out.

Here is something important I think a lot of people may be missing here:
**Half of the team in the NHL make the playoffs.**
To very rarely be a top 50% team is absolutely fucking pathetic. This is a miserable franchise currently propped up by young players who choke when the intensity rises, and old washed up bums.
The coaching staff let literally everyone regress this year. Everyone. Name a player who played better from last year. I’ll give you Jet. Maybe Mateychuk? Anyone else???
Z is a shell of himself. Fantilli can’t see an open fucking net 15’ in front of him. Marchenko is ???
Our coaching staff sucks, our young players aren’t developing, we’re making mental lapses every game leading to losses and can’t beat teams who are “worse” than us.
This franchise doesn’t deserve a single one of us.

My father who only very casually follows the Jackets was getting excited about the idea of us going to a playoff game together this year. He’s been asking me when playoff tickets will go on sale.
I’m seeing him today and I will have to break the news to him 🫂

I was an usher for 20 years. I experienced 20 years of the same seasonal result. Looked good in the beginning on paper. Then the roller coaster ride throughout the season. And a big ol’ dump at the end. Then my forced smiles and delivering “well, there’s always next year!”
I couldn’t take any more. It made me not even interested in the sport of ice hockey anymore. It’s been a couple years now and I don’t regret leaving. And this year, somehow, I allowed myself to be dragged back into being interested in this team, this season, during and directly after the Olympics.
I feel like the hook was set deep into my cheek and I was yanked from the comforts of my deep and dreamy depths. I don’t need this consternation. I’m ignoring it all even if they were in the finals of playoffs next year.
