"De plus, pour la première fois, les commissaires du Park Board ont indiqué qu’ils envisageraient la participation des Canucks. Ils ont approuvé le volet de la motion visant à explorer une « collaboration avec les Canucks, y compris l’amélioration des installations de la patinoire et le renouvellement de la piscine et des espaces du centre communautaire ». Il y aurait également « des fonds supplémentaires provenant des Canucks », du gouvernement provincial et d’autres sources."

Damn I thought this was further along than just « exploration » stage

  2. Just skated there on the weekend. Britannia sneakily has the best public rink ice in greater Vancouver.

The thing I always remember about Britannia when I was living in Vancouver is that they had an afternoon mid-week drop in hockey session at like 4pm, so you could go to it after work. It was always well attended (full with two goalies). I’ve never seen a drop in session with that good of a time slot before or since.

For a while there I stopped playing beer league and just went to that session so you never had to play any late nights

So basically the city would get to share one existing ice sheet with a privately owned hockey club? As if ice time wasn’t hard enough to get. No expansion of facilities proposed, just updating existing ones as density increases and granting periods of exclusive use to the Canucks. I don’t see how this benefits the city.

In before they announce they’re ripping up the skatepark for this or some other BS. The location is nice but it still seems like aqua is trying to find the cheapest option possible

I know I’m in the minority here, but make the Aquilinis find some site and build it with their own money. I don’t want (more) corporate interests fucking up the city for the people who live here. Especially in East Van. Britannia has been Britannia forever 🙁 Please don’t fuck up the Drive 🙁

  7. The city cares more about the Canucks winning games than the Aquilinis!

Decades without a practice facility – but they got the city to pay for most of it in the end!

We know it’s going to stall when the $$$ is being discussed. Aqua will want the city to pay for bulk of it.

  9. Lmfao Francesco already has 0 good will with the fanbase and now he’s trying to milk their tax dollars. This guy needs to be dropped off far away from this province
