FOLIE

I may be spewing bullshit, but I’m pretty sure he’s talked about how he practices some skating drills with his laces undone so that he builds ankle strength and good habits.. but I could also be making that up

Edit: here’s a [clip](https://www.instagram.com/reel/DF2_BShulll/) of him talking about training without his laces done up

  3. I worked with a guy whose son skated with Hutson in juniors. He said that Hutson’s father was the one who made him learn to improve his skating by loosening his laces.

Newer hockey skates are extremely stiff. They are so stiff that it is sometimes recommended to guys transitioning from older skates to not lace the last row of holes. So, it is feasible to stand in loosely laced skates. Play, no. Stand, yes.

Every game I see with Lane… I m just blown away how no one drafted him in that first round… The skating alone .. just unbelievable. The character he shows in interviews is beyond his age.

And I feel we have not even experienced the apex yet …

Well I used to practice with untied skates. Nothing unusual here. Plenty of teammates did the same. Also a few mention the new skates are sooooo stiff you don’t even need laces anymore. Which is totally true.

  7. I can have my skates like this and walk around and skate. It’s not hard if you have strong ankles

Other have said new skates are very stiff, but one thing is new skates can also be custom maid for your foot. If a skate is properly maid to your foot, you don’t need to have it really tied to your foot. True Hockey started out as a speed skating boot company, they made costome skates boots for speed skaters to help them go as fast as possible. If your skate is perfect for your foot, you don’t need it really tied to your foot

NHL custom skates are so perfectly fit that it probably doesn’t affect him negatively much
