Steve isn’t running a hockey team he’s running a nostalgia factory.
How hard would it be to move to the western conference again? Serious question.
One positive about our outcome. In years past we were eliminated on the final game so we were fielding the best lineups possible. But since we got 2 games where we can try something new. What would you guys like to see?
Definitely sit Gibson and give him a break. Cossa or Postava getting a game against the cats would be ideal.
Throw Kasper on the top line with Finnie and Cat. ASP on PP1. Stuff like that.

This is the worst I have felt with any of my God-awful sports teams since the 2009 Cup Finals.
Where do we even go from here?
Do we run it back with the same core? That ceiling isn’t much higher than we got this year.
Rebuild and commit to another decade of missing the playoffs? Because uh, it’s starting to feel like Holland wasn’t nuts when he said that.
I can’t see the GM and Coach going anywhere. I don’t think ownership will give Steve the green light to make any ballsy moves.

Idk dude, I say we package either Cossa or Augustine, Plante, Raymond and a 1st or three and try and get McKenna, because idk how tf we get a level of competitiveness without a bonafide superstar and lord knows the league isn’t going to allow us to win the lottery.
Just at my wits end. Fuck it, at least we got the World Cup this summer. That’ll be fun. Too bad Chris owns the Tigers too. 😔
We have improved every season and would have easily made the playoffs under normal circumstances, Sucks it had to end this way.
Yesterday was a formality. It’s been coming since roughly the Olympics.

Just a reminder, outrage sells and every news outlet, and social media account is going to farm your engagement to see advertisements. Don’t get ragebaited by low IQ media begging you to engage with their content. Don’t give the chuds free upvotes for saying “Wings bad” just because they want their meaningless internet points. This team is all r/hockey cares about all of a sudden. They didn’t care all that much when we were winning. It’s going to be a long offseason.
I appreciated Todd’s comments about the « outside noise » after the game last night. The noise came from within the teams own building.
We the fans, spend a lot of time and money supporting these millionaires so they can live lavish lifestyles to chase a puck around. I reckon the 10,000 fans remaining for the booing all work far more important jobs for society for far less than what these primadonna losers make chasing a puck around.
The expectations and « pressure » this team faces from the fanbase is far less than what any Canadian or original 6 team face. As Todd said, we fans don’t even expect a Cup, we just want something to cheer for from the product we invest so much into.
There are freshmen in high school with no recollection of the wings in the playoffs. There are likely freshmen in college now that don’t have any recollection of the Wings winning a playoff series. It’s been a long time.
Last night was the most frustrated I have ever been towards one of my teams. Never have I ever gave one of my teams the bird before during their pathetic salute. Absolutely pathetic.
I’m more anti-Yzerman, while my husband is more pro-Yzerman, but we both agreed last night that Todd has to go. It seems that possibly Todd & Yzerman don’t get along & Todd is horrible at lighting a fire under these guys’ butts. He puts together terrible lines & wont say a word to the veteran guys & probably puts a lot of pressure on the younger ones. He always puts DeBrincat & Kane together. He doesn’t give off any “fear” or “anger” vibes & a fresh head coach could really benefit the team… New York & Vegas just fired theirs
I’d love a giant trade for some proven talent, that of course is easier said than done. It’s possible but not likely.
I would be surprised if they truly blow it up. You would have to trade everyone to bottom out, including Ray and Seider, otherwise the will keep us competitive enough to pick at the top of the draft
I expect them to more or less run it back which sucks.
At the very least if his happens, use that extra cap space to just sit the jerseys

JVR, Perron – thank you for your service, but your hockey career is nearly over, either sign with a different team or retire
Kane – you are welcome back if you desire, however at this point I think you are a PP guy and third liner. I do think he could move up the lineup late in the year but at this point it’s too much to ask a 38 year old Kane to play 82 games
So this leaves at minimum 3 forward spots open from the team that fielded yesterday, potentially 4 if Kane doesn’t resign
If you can’t trade for a star, just play the young guys. I would rather lose with youth the. Have another match collapse with vets
MBN, Danielson – full timers next year
Bear, Ammo – fighting for a spot
kiskinen, James, etc – pull a Finnie, surprise us and show up next year
Finally to the young guys on the team
Finnie, Kasper (even Danielson or MBN)
– basically one of you needs to be a 60 point player next year. Kasper needs to be at least a 40-50 point guy or else he will be the new Ras
I feel so terrible for Ken and Mick, as well as Ken and Paul. It’s gotta be so tough calling these games year after year, especially to do so with the passion they do. Such a bummer of a way for Paul to end his broadcasting career. And the reality is, we’re quickly approaching the other 3 guys hanging them up as well. They’re not going to be here forever.
