Is that the full strategy for next year? Hope? That is not much of a plan. This will be the sixth season in a row where they failed to win 30 games. It appears that young Danny follows in grandpa‘s philosophy and does not care as much about winning as his father did.

    >Right now, fan anxiety seems to be reaching an all-time high, at least in the time since general manager Kyle Davidson launched this rebuild four years ago.

Understandable, looking at sport as entertainment, it’s not a very entertaining product, unless you’re into watching kids get wrecked every night. I’ve supported the rebuild from the get go, it made sense to collect assets and rebuild, but my patience is admittedly thinning. I would like KD to use some of the assets he’s collected for bringing in a star winger for Bedard and 1 or 2 vet 2 Dmen to help the kids develop on and off the ice. I think it’s time.

  3. How much impact does a Mckenna/Stenberg bring to the group?

  4. The biggest takeaway for me is that the team is indeed improving. Bedard ascended to new heights this year and would have been better if he didn’t get injured in the middle of the season. Nazar had his ups and downs this season, and dealt with a fractured jaw but he turned it on after coming back.

The other thing to look at is the OT performance. Anyone who watched Chicago this season knew it was bad. However, if the results were flipped, I believe they’re fighting for the last wild card spot or at least out of the bottom 5. Having more talent like Frondell and Kantserov come in should help change that.

I firmly believe Chicago is still improving and with all the changes coming, and yet to come, I think they should compete for a wild card spot next season. Comparing the sharks rebuild with Chicago is not ideal because San Jose plays in the pacific. Not exactly as tough competition as the central. The future is here and it’s bright

TBH, I can barely watch the last few games. They just suck so bad… and losing so much leads to a losing mentality. Bedard has got to be getting fed up with this bullshit. It’s really frustrating

I’d say it’s the last season that I can just say « it’s a normal phase of the rebuild ». My goal isn’t crazy, let’s just win 34 or more games, which should be equivalent to this year’s Jets/Blues. If they can achieve that (28-26-23-25-28, from 2021 to 2026), I’d say the trajectory is very, very good; otherwise, someone needs to be held accountable.

28 to 34 may look like a big leap, but it is necessary. Next season will be the time that we have most of our roster vision « realized ». We’ll have Bedard in his 4th year, Nazar back and better (he needs to keep the puck with him when he’s fast!!), Frondell goes to the summer training camp with Bedard, Kantserov, joining after an amazing season in the KHL, and ideally, Stenberg. For players like Lardis, Moore, Greene, entering their 2nd/3rd season in the NHL, work hard in the summer, and I don’t care if they need to spend time working on their foundational skills or whatever, learn to finish. If Boisvert wants to play for the Hawks, he needs to put some hard work in, a solid 4C in the near future, if things work out for him. Levshunov, Korchinski, Crevier (the one I worry the least about), Kaiser, Vlasic, no summer break, sorry, please train as hard as you can and stop playing soft.

Anyways, with the addition of some amazing players and the gradual improvement (expected) from a less junior d-core, I anticipate seeing a significant improvement when they are back. If we still can’t get around 34 victories next season, the organization honestly doesn’t have the space for more excuses. With the theoretically largely improved roster, how can you still be this bad? Those will be true signals of failures, and the method and direction of this rebuild need to be questioned.

  7. It’s going to really depend on the D more than anything else. You can’t outscore your way out of the worst xga in the last 10 years… and that came with Vets like Foligno, Dickinson, and Murphy.

Levshunov and Rinzel have to take a massive step up to belong in the NHL.

Korchinski has to prove he belongs full time.

Kaiser, Vlasic, and Crevier have to refine their skillsets to become more than just depth.

    So a few stats.

The last 3 years we average 290-300 goals against. This year, with a couple games left, we are at 268 according to Google. Solid improvement but still near the bottom of the league. Realistic Goal should be 255 goals allowed next year.

For offense.. last year we had 225 goals for, but the previous years were 205 and 190. We currently have 207. If we get to 240 goals for would be great improvement. Great offensive teams will be near or above 300.

I realize this is still net negative but solid improvement. Should put us at about 80-90 points for the season.

This should be realistic improvement for a young team with a few minor additions.

  9. I mean, that is the benefit of having a young team. It’s a high probability that each rookie and young player will improve.

We have the youngest team and people act shocked when they have a few horrible games. You are really expect us to have a team with so many 20-22 year olds and be wrecking teams every night?

The other benefit is now we should be able to hold onto the players that are looking good. The worst thing I can think of over the next three years is possibly losing Bertuzzi. Most young players should improve – I’m not sure what young player on the team I can think of that was so good this season they might be overrated – and any busts can be replaced.

Long time listener, first time caller…

Individually I feel like Kaiser, Crevier, and Vlasic look solid. Levshunov is young, I’d cut him some slack. Korchinski has had some decent flashes, so has Rinzel & EDM. That said, as a whole they look fucking atrocious. It begs the question, do they have the right coaches in place to develop the defense? Most of their errant goals given up they seem way out of position which could be a rookie mistake, but Christ, how is it ALWAYS happening?
