And with the Islanders eliminated from the playoffs, that means the three NYC metro area NHL teams (Rangers, Islanders, Devils) will all miss the playoffs in the same season for the first time since the Colorado Rockies moved to north Jersey and became the Devils in the 1982-83 NHL season.
They played bad. It’s like they weren’t trying to win. They were nice and physical, but that’s good for game one in the playoffs. They skated slow and the puck retention was so poor
For moving their AHL team out of Bridgeport, good.

For the first time since 1966, the New York metro area won’t send a team to the playoffs. We have just witnessed the end of what was by far the longest playoff qualification streak involving multiple teams from the same league in the same city in the history of major league professional sports after 58 years. The second longest such streak only lasted 19 years.
So is Roy even a good coach? Couldn’t do it with Colorado and now the Islanders.

Not an Isles fan, but Schaffer and Sorokin deserve better than this.
For real? I thought it was a joke when someone told me Bolduc eliminated the Isle.
So many GMs should now be building trade packages for Sorokin. PDB will blame him for something soon causing Sorokin to demand a trade.
So I guess the coach change didn’t help.
I seem to recall the islanders being pretty good early in the season, they must have fell pretty hard after the new years.
