@Canucks de Vancouver

L’Athletic classe les Canucks comme la franchise la moins performante de la LNH. Merci Francesco!

  1. It’s always going to be hard to have 100% optimism knowing who pulls the strings. Really hope we can be free of Aqua one day

  2. Tannerman97

Ticket prices were increased from the time this post was made

  3. Sarcastic__

Pretty sure that’s the Agents poll they released today and not an actual ranking…but they’d probably be last there too right now anyway.

  4. NotaRussianChabot

THE BEATINGS WILL CONTINUE UNTIL MORALE IMPROVES

  5. icyarugula24

I find these things really bizarre considering we were considered one of the best run franchises during Gillis’s time here and we had the same owner.

  6. not saying is not true but is a poll with 22 votes lmao

  7. Who TF voted for Carolina. They have won a cup and outperformed on numerous occasions

  8. roguetowel

So we make the next round, right? And face off with the other worst-run teams in other leagues. Maybe we’ll make a deep run.

  9. Upstairs_Bad897

It’s simple it boils down to money that’s it. The rink gets filled aqua gets paid so he doesn’t give a shit about a Stanley cup. You make round one of the playoffs you make money at this point that’s why we will see a retool until they make the mushy middle again then nothing will get done

  10. Given the team is in last place, and wasn’t able to retain it’s Captain/Franchise Defender/Future HOF’er it makes total sense. If anything they should have gotten more votes.

In 2 years, they went from “building” to making the JT Miller trade and “re-tooling” to making the Hughes trade and “rebuilding”.

I will give them credit, that season where they brought in Cole, Zadorov, etc it felt like they got the train back on the tracks. But that following offseason (DeBrusk, Forbort, Desharnais), things went right back off the rails.

  11. This is an agents poll and not an actual ranking but that doesn’t mean it isn’t meaningful since agents help their clients decide where they may want to sign/commit long term. As mentioned by others, it’s kind of sad to see us sit clearly at the top of this list when we were considered a model franchise back when Gillis was here. It’s tough to see things drop off that drastically in a little over a decade.

Let’s just acknowledge we are good at something.

    Positivity is important

For those dismissing this as “only 22 votes”, don’t be so narrow minded.

22 player agents. How many agents do we think there are—like, real agents, multiple players represented? There aren’t that many. 22 agents is, quite literally, hundreds of players. Why does that matter?

Well, agents have to sell players to team and teams to players. Not just for the cash, but for what the team will provide. Practice facility, family support liaisons, quality of life, team medical, and so forth. Also, is the team good.

If the Canucks keep saying they aren’t rebuilding to agents to attract better talent, and then the agent has to field 4 phone calls a week for 5 different guys he represents on the Canucks, all pointing out the drama, missing medical care, lapsed family support, then what will the agent think? That is, of course, ignoring the reputation hit agents take selling players on a garbage situation as if it were a luxury mud bath.

Agents advocate for players constantly for teams to make sure they are getting what the team said they would provide but also what is contractually obligated. The Canucks have failed to meet their end of the deal repeatedly with players.

So, when it says, “worst run franchise”, this is coming from about a third of polled agents, whom represent hundreds of players, and will not recommend the Canucks as a place to sign, be it from free agency, current UFAs, college free agents, and so forth.

TL;DR: team has no plan that agents can bring to the clients to convince them that the Canucks are good for their careers and families.

Even worse run once a bunch of draft picks are inevitably traded away this spring.

  15. New_Bank_4686

As fans, we just lost more rights and priveldges 😂

  16. Odd-Explanation4165

Hardly a surprise . Our beautiful franchise run into the ground by really bad owner

  17. Total-Championship80

Canucks are not an NHL caliber organization. The ownership group are stupid, cheap and greedy. Rutherford is demented. A total shit show.

  18. Ya that tracks.

We could get the next six first draft picks in a row and I wouldn’t be confident this franchise will be good in a decade.

I got my hopes up when there was news of a practice facility at Brittania but the further I’ve looked into that the less promising it appears.

At least we’re first in something

It sucks when you’ve been a fan of a franchise your whole life and you watch it develop into a joke. It’s embarrassing by association. Vancouver, as a market, has so much to offer – esp for athletes that value lifestyle benefits and perks for the family. It should be able to sell itself as a beautiful place to live and decent fanbase to play for (we’re not great, let’s be honest, but we’re of good size and passionate).

I hope something meaningful can change.

  21. Witty-Ad2758

I’m confused about the hurricane being on the list.

Generally have good teams every year, draft well, get to the conference finals often.

  22. Ikea_desklamp

Having 4 of the 7 Canadian franchises here goes a long way to explaining why Canada hasn’t won a cup in so long.

  23. Least_Elk8114

I know Melynk is passed, but couldn’t we have done this during the Ottawa meltdown?

James Dolan is pretty questionable too.

  24. Nier_Perfect

Surely that means we’ve hit rock bottom and it’s only up from here right?

  25. Delicious-Ad-4521

Guys, you don’t get it. We think the goal is to win the Stanley Cup. Aquas goal is to make it to the playoffs so he can get an extra few million in profit, if we go further great. He is a billionaire that needs this franchise to be successful to keep being a billionaire, unlike someone like Ballmer with the Clippers who is a billionaire and bought the team for pure love of the game.

If we look at it from that point of view, they still suck because we’ve had two playoff runs in 15 years, but it explains why we do the stupid shit we do.

  26. reeferthetuxedocat

While tickets prices have not helped…we used to hit two to five games a year. We haven’t in the past couple of seasons as the on ice product isn’t worth the ticket price.

We would make a date night type of thing. But now with prices so high we’d have to have a couple of hotdogs at the next door Costco to make it worth it.

  27. cana-man27

Fuck Francesco chants need to be heard at the games… The only way for change is to stop going to the games and when you do make him look stupid and make some noise. This was one of the best places to play … Now look at us… embarrassing

  28. Y’all it’s 22 votes.

Means nothing at all, whether or not the results would be factually true.
