  1. IDC. It is what it is at this point. If they make the playoffs, great…if not, oh well.

  2. TeamFast77

Lets go back to the 1-8, 2-7, 3-6, 4-5 format which rewards teams for higher final standings.

  3. Yeah, this is the issue with depending on other teams to get you in to the playoffs.

Not losing those winnable games during the season and wouldn’t be in this position .

  4. UbiSububi8

    Perfect!

Flyers think canes aren’t taking the game seriously… then BAM!

Anyone know if Svetch is playing? You know, for his physicality.

  5. bangersntrees710

Brind’amour trying to do his old team a solid I guess. This has the makings of a trap game nonetheless. I hope the flyers go into this one expecting to win. fingers and toes crossed.

The Canes are a team that just consistently piss me off.

That blowout loss to the Rangers very well could be the 2 points that we needed. Said it before that game, said it after and saying it now. LT should have started the B2B and Chucky should have stayed on the bench. LT just proved he could handle. Not saying every B2B should be LT for both but that was a game we absolutely couldn’t afford to give away.

  8. Sheeeeesh Carolina has won 8 straight and 16 of 17 against Philly? Never know what can happen

Just another reason they’re our *real* new rivals.

    God I hate those guys.

  10. The canes play good systematic hockey, they’re capable of beating any team with their system alone. The Canadiens game is what I’m more worried about

I’d be angry on the Hurricanes but this is on the Caps for squandering away control of their postseason destiny in the first place.

Among the underrated needs for the Caps this offseason are shootout specialists — can’t keep losing those points so long as a shootout win is the same as regulation win.

  12. ThunderSevn

We can only blame ourselves for being in ths position……the puck will fall where it falls….

  13. We need the Canes to beat the Flyers so we can make the playoffs and lose to the Penguins in the first round for a change.

  14. HamburgersOfKazuhira

Carolina is not responsible for helping us get into the playoffs..

  15. Not going to be a popular opinion here..

But I don’t wish for other teams to do our work for us. If we took care of things during the season not just calling out 1 game this isn’t an issue.

Don’t care about Karma so let it rain..

This is my main criticism against carbury. How does a team you couch come out so poorly against those teams. I like the guy, but esp the devils and rangers games, this is crunch time and they laid an egg.

  17. Yes the playoff format sucks. Yes a 3-2-1 point system would be better. But we didn’t ever replace PLD during his injury. We went 1 for 1 way too many games. Our PP sucked all year until what… 3 weeks ago? We didn’t beat teams we should’ve (NJ, and NYR recently) and we couldn’t win a shootout. At the end of the day this is the bed we made.
