I just gotta say, Fuck the leafs and rangers for even being in this conversation. They’re not here because of lack of talent, they’re hear for lack of culture. One of these teams will jump us in the standings and no one will remember that it was because they have multi million dollar pussies who are upset about where they fit in the lineup. Well, there’s decent players available at 4-5, but MAN we really need a top 3 pick to build a top line around.
Bennett at 4th overall even after rebounding in Florida is a good middle 6, not a top liner. Tkachuk and Monahan (pre-injury) at 5 are good complimentary top line players, but not the sole person you build your team around.
With what we have in the system it should be a good add, but with next season a lot of new talent coming in, and Wolf and Cooley getting better, we’re unlikely to actually fully tank so this was kinda our one shot at a top 3 pick. Hopefully we don’t get trapped in an « almost successful » rebuild again.
