Don’t know if he was joking but the transcript said he’d like a 2 year deal from GMCP. It would be awesome if he took something super team friendly and we used csp space to actually bring in some expensive talent. But most guys don’t do team friendly stuff. We’ll see.

I’d rather see a winning team and I just don’t see that with Ovi around. At this point in his career he’s more of a liability on the ice. I appreciate all he’s done for team but it’s time to move on.

It would be difficult to retire after leading the team in goals. Also, the Caps look to be loaded with young talent and will have significant cap space even after paying Ovi. Next season looks to be a new window opening.
I’m not ready for Ovi to be done. I just can’t yet imagine watching the Caps play without him on the team.
He’s most likely coming back. You would think if it was gonna be his last game, he would want to have his family there to see him play one last time. As far as I could tell, that didn’t happen in Columbus. If he doesn’t come back, I’d be very surprised. Just hope that there’s a chat about his deployment next season ahead of time and a team friendly deal along with it.

You know he still has the drive and desire to play. It’s what made him great. But like he said family, needs some rest and recovery, also needs to consider Russian league and how much to leave for that in the tank.

I hate to say it but that sounds like he and the team aren’t close on money/term. I’d like to see Ovi back on a bonus-laden one-year deal. If he’s still producing, he’s still gonna get paid, but we need flexibility to build the rest of the roster.
