I agree with you. The heat in Florida, especially in the summer, is unbearable. Incredibly jealous of you right now. Nothing beats summer up north (well, not with all the heat waves right now lol). You have to be a special kind of person to enjoy Florida in the summer, which is like half the year for us, and I'm not.
You are lucky to be living in Maryland rather than Florida right now. I'm sure Fluffy and the other dogs are much happier being where you are located at the moment. Amen to the summers being beautiful up in the middle of the East Coast. I have family friends not far from Baltimore and I loved going there in summer to visit. It's like the perfect weather. Like you I've thought about moving to Florida as well, but then I realize how hot and humid the summers are in FL, plus the Hurricane season makes me really nervous. Sure the meteorologists tell you when the Hurricanes are coming but still it's a lot of energy and a lot of money to get ready for the storms. Don't get me wrong, Florida is nice and I love going there for visiting, but I don't know if I could live in the Florida summers every year. Then again I guess people get used to them and blast the A.C. all summer. At the same time, if I feel gutsy enough, I may buy or rent a property down there in the future. We'll see.

Why would you want to live in Florida? Everybody else wants to live in Florida and there's great places to live everywhere and you don't have to deal with the fast pace of the world
