  1. montreal didn’t need AI and look where they are this franchise is an embarrassment to pro sports and now we know they are extremely dysfunctional

  2. Bruh…"He can't learn hockey in 24 months."

Why the hell are they leaving a guy in charge of the LEAFS who doesn't KNOW HOCKEY?! 😂😂😂

  3. When you ask AI what to trade Matthews for — AI is NOT answering – what it is doing is searching the web for an opinion on this question and REFXXinggurgitating that answer!!!! Don't be so STOOOPid.

Wee Willy Wanker OUT. Liar. Purses. Loves to look at self in reflection of design shop windows. OUT OUT OUT

  4. If Leafs end up out of top 5 in the lottery … and Bruins get the pick… will Sammy need anti-depressants?

  5. Congrats on getting number 5. You better hope that this team improves or they are gong to give the Bruins and Flyers unlimited.

  6. Bourne: "it's just the words, that scare people".
Most ignorant take, i have heard / read in a while.
No, it's not the words "artificial" "intelligence", that are scary – it's, what they mean…
What freak isn't scared, watching a.i. generated videos of "news", that look almost real.
What freak isn't scared of robots, that can move more humanlike every year…
You go buy yourself a robot, Bournie and with any luck, he has a malfunction and pounds some sense in your skull…

  7. So Pelly was using an AI BOT to make decisions. hahahahahaahahahaha

The Athletic (published via the New York Times) recently released a detailed report titled "Inside the stunning fall of the Maple Leafs: Chaos, dysfunction and AI," outlining a complete breakdown in the organization's culture and operations following the 2025-26 season.

Key findings from the report and related coverage include:

Reliance on AI and Data: MLSE President Keith Pelley reportedly used artificial intelligence tools and large language models, advised by Hamza Torani, to generate trade ideas and hockey strategy, bypassing traditional front-office processes.

Front Office Turmoil: The report details "three dysfunctional years" that culminated in the firing of GM Brad Treliving in late March 2026. Pelley described the organization as "disorganized and directionless".

Staffing Reductions: In March 2025, MLSE cut 10% of its workforce and failed to replace key roles, such as the head of the sports science program, leaving an assistant strength coach to manage those duties.

Roster and Leadership Issues: The team's strategy focused on aging veterans (e.g., Chris Tanev, Oliver Ekman-Larsson), resulting in a "slow, aging team" that struggled with injuries and lacked a clear identity under coach Craig Berube.

Declining Culture: Insiders described the franchise as "small-minded and timid," paralyzed by fear of failure and a lack of boldness in decision-making.

Key Issue Impact on the Organization

AI Integration Front-office staffers felt undermined by "AI musings" coming from outside traditional hockey channels.

Leadership Vacuum Pelley chose not to replace the President of Hockey Ops role formerly held by Brendan Shanahan.

Salary Cap/Roster Costly extensions for older players like Jake McCabe (32) and Chris Tanev (34+) limited flexibility.

Postseason Absence The team missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade, plummeting to the bottom of the Atlantic Division.

  8. This talk on Toronto screams why this market needs both a President and GM roles.
The fact they are moving into more AI means some jobs will be cut. Toronto employs more than any team in the NHL

  9. Bowness is a good coach and has a lifetime of hockey experience. He was a steady mid level defennceman who played the coaches system, he was a guy his teamates could depend on and did, because he would always be there. I dont think he really understands todays players like he did yesterdays'. If he resigns in Columbus, i really hope he can figure out what the problem is. It would be a good way to finish up what was a good career.

  10. 16:10 as a player idk if you really want the GM in the locker room anyways do you?? Feel like you don’t need the distraction in a place that should be sacred for them tbh

  11. why should Leafs win their remaining game, lets see – integrity, pride, that's your job that you get paid very well to do – oh right, this is the Laughs so the integrity and pride thing doesn't apply.
