So, you're saying that they'd take less money to play elsewhere? Where are all the people chiming in that money is number one even tho the've already made 50 million?
They’ll have to overpay to get free agents but if they do it right and can get them on a 1-2 year deal they might be able to trade that player at the next trade deadline for an additional 1st or 2nd round pick next year.
As a Canucks fan, I am prepared for a few years of pain if it means turning this franchise around.
A couple good picks this year and next, and give it a few years for the team to be back on track
No more free for drat picks, or unreasonable contracts.
Also no more no trade clause’s.
I’m more concerned with fans wanting a new coach. Who is going to want to coach here? By the time the rebuild is over, if the new coach makes it that far, his stock will be zero. You think Manny wants that? After the year he already had? At best, you’re getting another rookie coach who fans will dump on again.
Id like to see lots of offence but still losing. That sounds fun like the Habs did it
They are already better you talentless hack!!
It’s the same franchise that bollocks’d the Toffoli deal. He wanted to stay. If there’s 1 thing this franchise has traditionally been short of, it’s legitimate top-6 RH RW Forwards.
Sorry, Conor Garland was never that, no matter how much the fan base talked him up as one when his contract was expiring.
And, it’s the same franchise that signed Jake DeBrusk to an albatross free agent contract in the 2023-24 offseason when a top-6 LH LW wasn’t even on the list of team needs. Yes, it’s easy to say he’s “needed” now in light of how Hoglander turned out, but, at the time, adding DeBrusk wasn’t a necessity. Especially when comparing his stats this season in 81 games to Evander Kane’s in 71. VERY similar. That’s not a good look for DeBrusk. And, now that he’s said he’s not interested in a rebuild, what was even the point in signing him in the first place?
Free agents have never wanted anything to do with Vancouver, why would they now in this current state? Especially being the only pro sports team in North America without a facility, so many better options. And yes I’m a fan and a British Columbian.
No – and why would they?
Don’t spend to the cap. We don’t need free agents coming here for term. We need that cap space to be able to get bad contracts with picks and increase our draft capital. Any remaining cap space should be used for the best medical help, a competent sports science department, and player development.
Jim needs to go packing. Between him and Allvin they blew this team right down the dumper.
