1. I disagree with the Sabourin take. I think he is less of a factor than Bjorkstrand. We were plenty physical last night without getting into trouble because of it, I don't think that is the missing piece. What we need is to stop trying to brute force wins with talent and instead play like the savvy, veteran team we are supposed to be. Playing smart hockey is going to help us much, much more than throwing an AHL plug into the lineup.

  2. VERY good takes. Am originally from Montreal where hockey is in our blood. Was impressed with your knowledge of the game!

  3. As a Habs fan I would love to see Sabourin matching up against the Habs top line. They would skate circles around him. This is not the way Tampa can win the series LOL

  4. The officiating was questionable. A lot of iffy penalties. Neither team gave up much 5-5. Tampa definitely carried the play for the most part. Dobes was the better tender last night. Tampa has the edge in experience. Montreal can skate. Anderson is Tom Wilson light.

  5. Greg makes an astute but also obvious observation that NO ONE is talking about – why isn't this year's TBL absolutely grinding down their opponents like the Panthers did? We have the size, aggression and experience to play this type of hockey. Young teams like MTL or Buffalo aren't poised or equipped, IMHO, to deal with this. This is how the Panthers broke every opponent they played, even when they were down 2-0 against Toronto. TBL needs to realize who they are or this series will be over. We can't out-skate MTL's youth but we can bully them.

  6. Just so you know: during the last game of the season between the two teams, John Cooper made a slightly overconfident gesture when the Lightning scored. And one of the players hit the glass to nudge a Habs fan. The cameras captured the gesture, and lots of fans in Montreal used it as motivation. The Habs scored immediately afterward and won the game. The media in Montreal didn't miss a chance to constantly bring up this gesture. You know as well as I do that in the playoffs, every little thing like that gets overused for motivation. I know Lightning fans are going to dismiss this. Be that as it may. And I'm not saying the Habs are necessarily going to win. But God damn it, we'll use that as motivation, you can be sure.

  7. If we keep allowing the first goal in litetally every single game and chasing, keep getting dominated in the faceoff circle, keep killing penalties at a 40% rate, and have a goalie keep saving at a .780 percentage, this series is over in 4, no doubt about it, reguardless of what anyone else is saying, this was a bad game by Tampa Bay and we continue to struggle at home and on OT in the playoffs, we've all seen this movie before, several times in fact.

  8. Geekie needs to work on his skating, he has the size and the skills but if he can't keep up with the Habs speed, he should not be out there instead of a veteran player. And isn't the Lightning the most penalized team in the league this season? Bringing guys like Sabourin to stir trouble is exactly NOT what John Cooper ordered after the game. It was a clear message to his players to clean up their act or this series will be over sooner than they expect

  9. Im a habs fan and i gotta say, Guhle sold that last penalty like a champ. Stick to the neck, grab his face… Also, anderson and Wifi dont give a shit about Sabourin.. thats not gonna change anything. i think your team tried too hard to play the physical game. They need to relax

  10. This young Habs seems to be the new era of fast hockey. I think the lightning have run their course. If the Habs take them out it’s time to retool asap .

  11. Suzuki is 216 lbs. not tiny . Play with Slav. Ya Caufield they can try to pick on the smallest play but then X is gonna get ya . Lol. If the bolts try to get physical. Habs will respond like wise . On kuch. Cerelli Ect . Up to the coaches from here ….

  12. From Montreal , se saw lightnings play a very strong game, but trying to veneer the Habs around the rink. They were cocky, trying to play in MTL’s head. But they shot themselves in their skate. Cooper will not put Sabourin in front of Xhekaj : he was destroyed earlier in this season. This would be a blow to the morale of the team. Last time the 2 teams met in the season, the Bolts tried to intimidate, and they lost badly, both in goals and physicality. Your team should play hockey instead of wrestling, and bid on talent…

  13. I don't hate the Sabourin take, but I think we just put Bjorkstrand in. Either way, I agree Geekie is a mistake and shouldn't be called up. Bjorkstrand at least produced on the power play during the regular season, Geekie has been wildly inconsistent. It's time to get the cup, not take off the training wheels for a future guy.

I think Coop should run lines with Hagel/Cirelli/Kuch…Guentz/Point/Perry….Gage/James/Paul….Girgensons/Yanni/Bjorkstrand.

Gage and James feed off each other. And I think a trio of Point/Guentzel/Perry could cook some offensive pressure
