This game did not look like David vs Goliath at all imo it was actually way more competitive than I expected it to be outside of the first 3 or 4 minutes of the game

first Avs game was exactly as i planned it to be.Tough against the physical Kings and have to beat the refs.
I also think it was goaltender interference – but also Bednar was right to challenge. If your PK is that good, you can roll the dice.
As an Avs fan, that was a stupid challage. It was never going to be overturned.
Take heart, everyone, Eddie O will be gone for the first weekend of May to annoy us in a different way as a horse racing commentator
Good summary Shannon! AVS fan since the 90s since we’ve never had serious hockey in GA. I try to be pragmatic but I did think 8 backed into O’Connor on the disallowed goal. Doesn’t matter because the zebras get the final word. Both teams missed some opportunities-Colorado hit a couple of posts and didn’t convert on some breakaways. Great job by both net minders! 😊
You should track head snaps by the Avs in the next game!
The TNT in game announcers are terrible and so annoying.
1) Yes, Eddie O is an Avs-hating buffoon. He became obsessed with the goalie interference call and was completely wrong as Boucher politely pointed out. 2) L.A.'s game plan became obvious early on – hitting. Was at the game and saw tons of stuff behind the play that wasn't shown on TV – as in elbows, high sticks, etc. Kempe's game assignment was to go after MacKinnon & Makar. He spent more time head-hunting than playing hockey. 3) Ref Eric Furlatt missed 3 calls that happened right in front of him that his partner – the high ref positioned above the blue line – had to make.
There were 2 or 3 very questionable icing calls early in the game and that goalie interference call is an absolute joke. I remember when someone fell onto i think it was Geogievs ankle and he was rolling around in pain and they let the play continue and the other team scored on an empty net and they claimed our guy "pushed" him into the goalie. Thats 100% what happened here, good goal, terrible call.
That miss by Drew on the wide open net really sent me spiraling. I know he's not a forward but I don't think that's really an excuse at this level.
Having Landy back has been a great boost all season for the Avs. One of his penalties came after Kempe gave Cale a not so loving tap to the back of his noggin. Forsberg looks like a legitimate goaltender.

Avs C+ game and they still got the win when the Kings played close to an A game from them. I bet Game 2 is like a 5-2 Avs win. A lot of this Avs team didnt really get to play with each other the last two weeks of the season so some rust was wearing off as the game went along. Plus, the Avs hit a TON of posts and controlled the puck for the majority of this game. The box score says it was close but the actual game really wasnt
I really appreciate the great commentators of the sport on television broadcasts. The TNT is lacking so much compared to everyone else. At least the games will get better

I may be in the minority but I saw that LA was in this game until the very end. Crazy how people are counting them out. Look at the score, shots, special teams, it’s a close game. Truly could have gone either way. Makar getting exposed holding Kempe’s stick was hilarious. Can’t wait for game 2.
