Roberts is exactly the type of person that could change the culture of this God awful team. I remember him playing with a dislocated shoulder. He hated loosing. All heart!

Gary Roberts would be great for injury prone players that are made.of glass like Matthews and Stolarz. If these players played back then their careers would be over by now. Athletes are too soft now a days days and largely cuz of the lack of conditioning.
Both Sundin and Roberts would bring a positive winning culture, not just in the dressing room, but as well in the front office

If they could get Gary Roberts to teach this team heart that would be well worth his salary. He put the Leafs on his back every playoffs to defeat the Ottawa Senators, much to our amusement and the crying of the Sens.
Get odd this whole " new gm needs to figure out what matthews needs" crap… the best American players on the planet where unable to mathews a single goal in the 7 games that mattered at 4 nations and Olympics ( prelims dont count). Willy marner jt knies couldn't get mathews more than 5 goals in the last 25 playoff games. There is no level of talent you could surround matthews with to make him give a crap in tough games. If you need better than all that your talking getting McKinnon and mcjesus as wingers and cale makar on defense and maybe throw in drysitle to help on pp. Then maybe matthews might put a shot in the net… but the reality is those guys dont need matthews. Neither did the leafs or the Americans.
I think they should add window Clark as part of some of the hiring to toughen these guys up
I like Roberts, played with a rare intensity the current Leafs could use…but all this speculation is useless, who is doing the hiring…Pelley?…he is not really qualified to hire anyone in the "operations department"….i guess we will all see what happens soon……
