I still think the pool is not stacked enough yet, but trading Pelech is not the right move at this point. Soucy and Boqvist should be gone first.
hey Mitch a good reason to get as many picks is this. Quinn Finely had shoulder surgery. He will not be the same, so we need to get as many draft picks as possible. Some of the guys you mentioned are NOT ready for the NHL this season
I am big trade Barzal guy but only if it means getting back a JR type player in return. If you just get picks for 13 then Isles have a huge hole to fill. If you could trade Pelly and still get JR and keep 13 even better

We need a much stronger 3rd pairing. Pelech and Pulock actually played well. Deangelo had an up and down season. Had some brilliant games and some stinkers. Romanov was horrible (look at his metrics) when he played before getting hurt. Was one of the least effective Dmen in the league in the small sample size. Soucy, Mayfield and the others that played 3rd pairing were mostly awful. We need Aitchesen to mature quickly. Maybe George can step up this year. But the staff realized there was a problem with depth and gave the wunderkid 25 min a game. Interested in seeing how Debouer can stop the odd man rushes and shore up the neutral zone. Missing the playoffs in a year that you went 10-0 in OT is scary. It’s because of defensive lapses. Sorokin is human after all.
Amateur GMs think you build a roster of 20 rookies. Two oldest teams in the league are Colorado and Vegas. Two of the youngest teams are Chicago and Vancouver. Age itself says little. You need the right mix of vets (leaders) and youth. Tampa is the same average age as the Islanders and are good year after year after year. Ryan McDonagh is 36 and Pulock 31. Who appears older on the ice?
Pelech had an ok year but he gets pushed around also and if the right deal doesn’t come from one of the teams that aren’t on his NTC list, he’s not going anywhere ! Soucy and Boquist shouldn’t be back but I’d keep DeAngelo if the price is rt ! I agree with Mitch, there’s a couple kids that hopefully make the big club this year but what are the chances they draft anyone else that is gonna make the club in the next 2-3 years ?
