good. how do you account for the other unforced icings and the mythical saves Dobes had to make prior to the goal. Scapegoating Dach is not it, fellow Habs fans.

  3. KoolerWithK

Ironically I think the hate Dach is getting is the reason he’s going to play on Friday. Marty is going to use this as a leadership and coaching moment.

  4. persuelol

Tired of this tbh, Dach is always the first one to be blamed when shit goes wrong.

    1. I doubt this comes from real fans, probably coming from the parlay machines.

    2. People need to realize hockey isn’t the stock market, I know we gave up assets for the guy, but he hasn’t been able to stay healthy. We see the flashes but he just can’t stay consistent. I really think the guy is scared to get injured again.

Has he played well since the start of playoffs? No. But have Suzi, CC, and most of them been playing great? Not particularly.

Look at the bigger picture. We are about 2-3 years early in where we wanted to be. We are competing with one of the best teams in the league, a favorite to win the east and the cup. We are the youngest team in the league. Our prospect pool is still ranked 8th, even with Demi, Fowler, Kappy, etc. graduating. Let’s stop being so negative after 1 bad game.

  5. So_Many_Owls

Good guy, good coach. He’s said before that he refuses to bully or demean his players as a method of coaching, and specifically mentioned that he’d had coaches who used those tactics.

Suzuki also addressed Dach’s mistakes after the game last night and straight up said he’s had his fair share of plays like that. « You just learn from it and move on. »

  6. throw_me_away3478

Did people expect him to throw Dach under the bus publicly?

  7. Proof-Variation7005

For as bad as his late mistakes were, the entire team struggled in the third and overtime. Kirby Dach wasn’t the only problem and his final couple mistakes just saved us all a little time and ended a game they were going to lose anyway.

  8. Okbutwhythat

The hate some people have for Dach is absurd.

I get the disappointment that he hasn’t lived up to what we thought we’d get, but that doesn’t explain the intensity of the vitriol some people are spewing.

I think some fans just want an easy scapegoat so that they don’t have to consider why we actually lost

  9. Ok-Vermicelli1117

Marty not throwing players under the bus is one of the reasons he’s loved as a coach.

  10. CMDR_Traf85

The lazy play on the icing and losing his man on the goal are absolutely worth criticism.

Unfortunately the fucking nut jobs in the fanbase decided to go after Dach personally and even is girlfriend which is just sick.

This puts MSL in a position where he has to do the right thing and defend Dach because of the crazies.

I get free speech and all, but online harassment needs to be easily traced and punished.

If Dach keeps on playing, this will be the first time I ever 100% disagree with a decision made by Hughes or MSL.

If Veleno and Gallagher were hurt, id still rather have Xhekaj play on the wing and bringing another D.

Its not about the mistake, just the general lack of effort in his game that has been even more blatant since he came back from injury.

The dude played 10 minutes and his only impact was negative. I’m sick of people saying « Gally cant keep up », well neither can Dach but he sure gets 1 billion chances.

  12. BahamutPrime

Demidov also made a bad icing when he was 2 feet from the center line earlier in the game. Fans only see bad plays if it results in a goal and its their whipping boy.

  13. 9 shots on goal against 0 for us but it’s all on Dach.

  14. Pazzaaaaaa

Did Dach have a bad game, yes. Is Dach the sole reason why we lost the game, no.

The whole team fell apart in OT and you could point out atleast 20+ mistakes. Unfortunate for Dach, his mistake led to the game winning goal. He’s already not liked by a decent portion of the fan base and this gave everyone a reason to pile on.

I think he deserves another shot at next game and that MSL will give him the chance.

  15. CaptainFlynnt24

The easy thing to do would definitely be to scratch Dach, but the better thing to do might be to give him a chanve at redemption. He can either come out motivated to play his best or sulk and never play again.

  16. The Results based analysis is always wild.

Was it bad to ice the puck there? yeah. Did players make 100 mistakes that game that were as bad or worse? definitely. But because this one lead to a goal off the faceoff in overtime it is heavily scrutinized by a bunch of people who don’t know anything about hockey lmao.

Plays are not better or worse because of the result. A penalty is not a good or bad penalty based on if the powerplay scores. Hindsight bias andys

  17. MSL knows more hockey than I ever will. I trust his judgment!

  18. _sassysoucyxx_

I don’t think Dach was the end all be all of game 2 like everyone seems to think, but I didn’t love him. Do I want to see Gally back in the lineup more so than Dach, absolutely, but I know that’s all coming from my heavy Gally favouritism. It’d also be nice to see what Veleno can do in playoff hockey.

If Dach stays in on Friday I just hope he has his moment to prove the Internet assholes wrong. If not people are gonna really get nasty, which I never like to see…

  19. Key-Drummer2439

Good for Marty. Stand up for your players. The people bitching about the mistake probably lost money on the game. The team didn’t get a single shot in 13 minutes of ot. That to me is the more important issue.

  20. Stravok182

The blame for last night’s loss is 100% on Slaf’s massive and reckless turnover that resulted in the tying goal forcing OT.

Weird how that isnt being talked about as much (i still have yet to see anything about, tho im sure its mentioned somewhere) as this icing call.

  21. discipleofbill

Wasn’t a great play by Dach, but let’s be honest. The Lightning were going to win that game, it was just amatter of when. The whole team aside from Dobes did not play well after the 2nd period. It’s never okay to attack a player for a mistake in what is at the end of the day, a game. And Dach is also not the only one deserving of critiquing.

  22. Bill_McCarr

The balls on MSL. You know what, this convinces me to believe they’re all in! I hope Dach will be better Friday night (and hopefully he will produce a point or two).

  23. pizzadog4

This always happens, the whole team was playing like crap in OT (Other than dobes) but Dach gets all the hate because he happened to make the last mistake

  24. morguejuice

Dach has never had a ‘leave it all out there game’
the experiment needs to be over

  25. rayshinsan

It’s disgusting to behave like this to a professional some people have no manners.

Dach isn’t the only one at fault the whole team lost it as a team. They were all lacking energy in OT. So you can’t just point fingers at one person as a scapegoat.

Not to mention who are you (haters) to point fingers anyway? You can’t play at their level.

  26. No team goes 16-0 in the playoffs. People are insane.

  27. cheeky_nonconformist

People just want a lynchpin to blame. It’s pathetic. It’s not like there was ZERO shots on goal in OT
