We beat Tampa three times in a row very recently, you don’t often beat good teams 4 times straight. I’m still very confident we win this series

The team played well and defended well. Even in the 3rd they defended strongly. Slafkovsky costed them the game with that giveaway at the blue line. If he chips that out the Habs most likely hang on. Tampa did not look dangerous for a lot of the 3rd.

Those bags under his eyes aren’t lying, he had a short night after the game. Can’t wait for Friday to see what he’s cooking!

I want to punch Hagel in the face. Sad I’m not a hockey player.

Coming back home with a 1-1 split is amazing, despite how close we were yesterday. Lets keep in mind Tampa were 70% favorites going into this, and neither of those games indicated that we are that level of underdog.

Tampa is a very good team, this was never going to be an easy series. The boys are still young and learning as well, Slaf won’t forget his mistake.

Lets see how we do with home ice line matching.

The more Montreal can hold out on having a response to Tampa’s shit stirring, the more they’re in control. Tampa was losing their composure in game 1 because the Habs didn’t engage with them. The more frustrated we keep them, the better.

Ugh I was sure we were going to score on that late power play.

Neither TB nor MTL were perfect and both games could’ve gone either way.

I’m not going to linger on individual mistakes because overall Habs competed well vs Tampa up until game 2 OT. Even though Habs clearly have an issue generating offense 5 on 5, they were holding their own defensively (better than I expected). TB was more disciplined in game 2 but they were still taking dumb penalties and gifted the Habs a PP right at the end of the 3rd period. If they scored on that they would’ve won and avoided OT but they didn’t. That’s fine, it happens.

For me the one and only inexcusable thing was the Habs play in game 2 OT. It was baffling how bad they were except for Dobes who was super solid in net. Over half a period and no shots on net. Sure TB switched up their strategy but the sudden drop in the Habs play, you’d think someone spiked all their water bottles before OT.

But they will learn from the experience. Big picture, series is tied 1-1 and that’s far from a bad position for the Habs. They can still win the series because they haven’t played their best hockey yet. There is room to improve and the young players are capable of improving. I don’t know if there’s really any more room for TB’s older players to improve. As a team TB just need to reduce their penalties and if they do that then that will make them a harder opponent to defeat.

I fully feel like Montreal has been the better team for most of the games except for like 29 seconds in game 1 when TBL scored twice and OT last night.

They just gotta keep pushing and that’s it. I love our game and feistiness and everything. Maybe swap Dach for Gally or Veleno. But otherwise roll it back.

We need to keep playing like how we did in the first period for the entire game. Theres a reason why the Panthers went to 3 finals in a row and the Oilers went to two. They never stop pressing their opponents for 60 minutes.

I agree with that message but « we controlled a lot of the game »…. lmao Marty, get real bro. Yall lost your minds after the 2nd

  13. We’re right there guys, this is a much better and more complete team than we have had in decades. It’s far from over, GHG!

I think the Habs lost the game after the Slaf-Hagel fight. That was the turning point for me. Slaf should have never allowed Hagel to goad him into the fight, but his emotions got the better of him.
