The call on the ice ended up being 100% correct. Nobody is saying Hathaway should not have been penalized 2 mins for high sticking. He obviously hit Sid in the face with his stick and players know they need to control their stick at all times. That is not up for debate. On the flip side, Sid also obviously embellished that contact. if you slow it down, I actually think Hath's stick only hit his visor and if it did touch his face it was a glancing blow at best. Nothing to put a guy down on the ground so embellishment was correctly called. Sid tried to give his team an advantage, can't fault him for that but it was a poor acting job and ppl like his coach and Gretzky should stop denying it.
Can we just take a minute and talk about the fact Sid has gone literally his ENTIRE CAREER without being called for embellishment? FFS he orders embellishment as a side with dinner.
Flyers speed and youth was going to cause the penguins problems. I said the longer the series goes the more it’ll hurt Pittsburgh. I didn’t expect it happen in game 1… thought for sure we’d see the penguins knock the flyers around in game 2… game 3? By the end of that first period I had no doubt we were gonna smack Pittsburgh despite being down 1-0.
This is the most excited us Flyers fans have felt in a long time. Unlike 2020, this feels more sustainable as the team builds around young talent.
pens had double the amount of actual pp time than the flyers in game 3. they’ve completely come unglued by the flyers physical play.

Watching the game live I thought Crosby had some sort of medical emergency the way he just fell over all of the sudden (having seen Michal Neuvirth fall over in the net years ago) but no he was doing the thing that Flyers fans have complained about for YEARS.
The penguins being upset with reffing after game one and two is an absolute joke.
Skinner has been the best player for the Penguins in every game so far, imo. Can't blame him for anything – the team around him looks lost.

I said this elsewhere on anti-social media… If Crosby had just dropped his stick and grabbed his face, he would have been fine. Instead, he immediately flopped to the ice and lay like all life in his body had deceased and desisted. Thats textbook embellishment.

Pens the most overrated team in the league. They shouldn't be in the playoffs. Their core is the same as it was 10 years ago. The supposed value adds Dubas made are the same as he made in Toronto – useless. Just wasted a year when they should be rebuilding. Missing out on a top 10 pick for no reason.
Refs gave them game 3 by somehow giving the Flyers a PP after an intermission long break after their player elbowed Rust to the head and then kicked at him. Should have been a major PP for the Pens instead they somehow ended up on the PK with some of their best PKers in the box, gave up the lead, and the whole flow of the game changed. Not too pressed though were never winning the Cup this year, was nice to see them make the playoffs after being called a lottery team, Dubas has got the Pens the most draft picks in the league over the next few years IIRC so the rebuild is still underway
I’m a Flyers fan who watches an absurd amount of hockey every season. The roll they’re on coming into the playoffs is great and it helps. More importantly tho is, team vs. team, the Flyers are better. I understand the HOFers that the Pens have. They’re in the twilight of their career. Not one defenseman on Pitt is even close to a scary defender. Besides Mantha, Pitts line 3 & 4 are weak. The Flyers overall winger depth is scary good nd one of the deepest in playoffs. Their 4th line may just be the best in the league. I could also write an entire essay on how impressed with Vladdy I’ve been all season especially now. I get it, we lost the Gauthier trade but guess what, Jamie Drysdale plays defense and his underlying numbers prove it. The Flyers system, especially the forecheck, is just too good for this version of Pitt. Is 3-0 shocking? I mean a little but any playoff series 3-0 is rare (except Avs – Kings). I dont think this says much more than Flyers > Penguins, The Flyers arent afraid of the moment, defense still wins. As far as what happens after round 1 i have no idea. I know there’s still hockey left in this series just saying i dont think this means automatic Cup Finals. Just enjoying the ride for now. Hope its a sweep tho bc ill be in the building for Game 4. Lets Go Flyers!
