The Kaprizov line spent almost every shift defending because Hartman had a rough night in the faceoff circle!
If it will be necessary to have Zuccy out, throw Bobby Brink's Playstation in the garbage and put the kid in front of Kaprizov videos. He should be spending 70% of his time studying his teamate forwards too! Put Kirill and Bobby AND ZUCCY in a room with films. Let Bobby hear from Kirill and Zuccy what they were thinking in these moments. Bobby for now become a a Zuccy IMPERSONATOR!!!
With Martone show casing some hockey moxy. Does the Stramel centering number one line next year have credence?
I appreciate the show and the work you guys put in to covering the team, but I think the closeness is blinding the objective reality of the team.
1. Hynes is not an elite coach, nothing in his tenure has suggested otherwise. He got smoked last year by Bruce and the Knights and the same thing is happening here
2. This team has absolutely no way to close out 1 goal wins. We were one of the leading teams in scoring first but also were one of the leading teams in games that went to OT. So unless they have atleast a 2 goal (sometimes 3 goal) cushion the game might as well be tied
3. They don't play a full 60 minutes of hockey. They either get a bunch of goals and limp their way to a win after the opponent as chipped away at the lead or in a case like last night, they played 1 good period out of nearly 5. And going back to point 2 a 1 goal lead in the 3rd has never been enough for this team, I call it during 2nd intermission this game was going to OT and they were going to lose.
4. The Folignos dont belong on the ice. Marcus is a liability with no upside and Nick is simply to old and slow. Neither of them have impressive playoff runs in their careers. And their spots in the lineups couldve been better used throughout the season to give your young talent real ice time
5. This organization prioritizes making the playoffs over winning them. They refuse to commit to a rebuild and instead cycle through aging vets every season and selling their young talent/draft picks for players on the wrong side of 30 to try and compete now. They orbit mediocrity by being the just shy of the playoffs or the first team out of them. And they will be stuck this way until Kaprizov goes and they finally acknowledge they need a complete top to bottom reset like the Sharks, spend a few years in the dumpster and come out the otherside as a new team without the same ghosts that haunting them and without the same "core" that has tasted early exit after early exit.
This series is done and regardless if Hughes stays or not this team isn't sniffing a cup for a long time. Not with the "core" they have now, not with their top players and certainly not with Hynes as a coach.
