Everybody always blabbing about how Colorado is playing to LA's style. How? Why? Did you all forget who had the best offense, defense AND goaltending alllll season? The Avs have soo much skill & firepower all over the ice that I'm confident they can play to anybody's style and STILL win 80% of the time
The same phrase repeats in my head every time the word close is used in hockey, "Close doesn't win championships, it just brings frustration and heartache".
The Avs are bringing out the broom against a stingy LA defense… and MacKinnon, Nichushkin, Necas, Makar, Kadri, Nelson, etc have been pretty much contained the entire series. That speaks volumes to how deep & spooky this Colorado Team really is 👀

All the worry warts commenting about how the Avs don't have their explosive offensive clicking are just that, worry warts. Even Gretzky commented on the TNT postgame about how the Avs are playing a much more tighter, defensive game against the Kings. When the Kings decided to open it up some last night, the Avs responded with a faster game pace. I 100% believe this is the exact game plan the Avs put together for this Kings series. Anyone who obsessively watches all of the Avs games, me, would know this about the team. To all of you worry warts, have no fear, the Avs will appropriately play the proper game plan for their round 2 opponent. Yes, Kings are done, they can't compete in a 7 game series against the Avs.
Crazy that we can very well get three sweeps in just the first round this season. There were zero sweeps in the entire playoffs last year.

Definitely the best game LA played by far. The controlled the play for most of the first two periods and they Avs first goal was pretty fortunate, but man, that Cale goal seemed to just break them. From that point on, Colorado took control and just seemed to shut almost everything down.
Side note – BRUTAL goalie pull by Smith. Kings had sustained pressure for around a full minute in the Avs zone with about 3 minutes left and he doesn't pull him, but then the Avs clear the puck and Smith immediately pulls the goalie before LA even gets the puck back in the Avs zone. Immediate TO, immediate ENG.
Great breakdown. I also have a shadow. Avs looking more and more dominant. I don't get why their PP is soo bad.
When I told people the kings wouldn’t score more than one goal a game before the series people laughed at me. I congratulated those people for scoring two last night 😂. Maybe they were kings fans but they are probably crying now that they realize this is pretty lopsided.

No goals from Mac dawg or Marty, power play is terrible…. Still finding ways to win for the Avs. WTFO if the big dawgs start getting goals and the PP turns on.
Sunday is game 4. Those goals for Colorado were very flukey/fortuitous, but no matter how you swing it, they're still goals.
I feel bad for my Kings, they are playing their hearts out but they're not getting rewarded (completely) for it. The 3-0 series lead is deceptive as LA has been hanging in there with them each and every game.
Re: Shadow. Is he a shadow, or is he really a stalker?… 🤨 …I disagree. This game wasn't close. The score wasn't crazy, but COL was never taken out of their comfort zone, much less challenged. In fact, I had the feeling that the Avs were coasting most of the game…That whole deleting a delayed penalty after a score really sticks in my craw. It's basically giving the offending team a pass on the actual infraction…The stupidest play in hockey – pulling the goaltender. Give away an instant goal as you're still in the game…
Alot of real crap series this year
As I'm sure someone has noted, Game 4 is actually Sunday afternoon. Strange to put the 2-day gap between games 3 and 4.

As a Kings fan, the talent gap is too wide for the kings to overcome. This one is over. The kings will have to retool in the offseason to try to find some offense. I hope they will hire a coach who wants a more wide open game. If we are going to lose,we should at least be a more entertaining team
Yea right when the avs got kadri on the PP it was doing better, he hurt his hand badly. Now it sucks again
That embellishment call was a complete joke. A bigger dude than him shoves him in the back twice in a row and the 2nd time sends him down, and they call embellishment. Terrible.
Also, as an Avs fan that watches every game, one of the main problems with their power play has been BAD/LAZY passes by Necas. Yes I know he’s scored a few PP goals this year, but HIS lazy passing gets it sent to the other end of the ice at least once per PP. He has both helped and hurt their PP equally. Early in the season it worked, but then all the teams figured out MacKinnon was the only one that could score on it and all their early PP goals were MacKinnon one-timers from his office in that left circle. Then they just started double teaming him and stopping him from gettin one-timers and their PP fell apart. Then they switched MacKinnon down low to the Kucherov/Draisaitl area to be more of a playmaker and he’s done good there, Got Necas a few goals etc, but it’s Necas’ bad passes and Landeskog whiffing and fanning on literally EVERY pass that comes toward the crease that has been the problem. His hand-eye coordination is shot. He fans on almost everything. And Necas tryin to do way too much with the puck hurts them too. He skates himself into trouble and then makes a terrible/lazy pass that gets sent down to the other end at least 5 times a game. That’s what has killed their PP this year. Bednar needs to have a long talk with Necas and tell him look bud, you’re actually not MacKinnon or McDavid, you’re not gona do what they do no matter how hard you try, and you need to stop making 7mph lazy little passes that get intercepted all the time. And you’ll be alright.
Kings played like garbage offensively.
Forsberg was outstanding first 2 game, but the Kings offense can't piss a drop and play from behind consistently.
I'm actually looking forward to burying the ghost of the 2012 and 2014 Championship era once Kopi is retired and gone.
I'm baffled Byfield hasn't scored any goals.
The franchise is ready to go to the shitter for a generation or two…..
My mind is just as boggled this year as it was last by how you manage to get through every single game in the first round. Thank you for making the effort – I enjoy hearing your take on games, and your explanation of calls is always much clearer than any of the announcers.
I don’t know how anyone can be a fan of the LA kings…that play style is just abysmal
So the response of Bettman and Parros to the problem of goon attacks to their star players is to double down on silencing criticism with a clear push to make more calls against those star players. Fucking 3rd world league bosses.

the kings had control of the puck for like a minutes and they didn't pull the goalie, then when the puck came out of the zone that's when they pulled the goalie. to not say that is a massive blunder is quite the stance for sue….

As a Kings fan, I believe they have done the best they can do with the skill level disparity. Their young players haven’t shied away from the moment, which is encouraging. But the Avs depth is brutal for any team to contend with. As long as their goaltending stays at a high level, the cup is theirs to lose. But each round bring different challenges.
How many pipes for the Avs so far? 7? 8? A couple are going in Sunday and they close it out.
I don't see the Kings winning the next 3 games without Fiala. The Kings are definitely giving their best but it's just not enough. Now with this being said I don't see the Avs getting past the next round with their problems on the power play.
I wish Kopi all the best and can't wait for his Hof induction.

Wait are you saying it’s bad for fans to make calls when the refs don’t? If so, why? Surely you realize how often refs miss calls in the NHL
