Bottom line is we all knew going into the series that you do not run and gun with Anaheim. It’s a coin flip outcome at best. And now with all of the injury trouble we are having it’s preposterous to try to play that style with them. It’s literally Anaheim’s game.
I feel like everyone knew the Oilers would have to play the stifling defensive, boring hockey that they were playing over the last few weeks of the year. That’s the style they can and were playing where they were effective against teams as good as Colorado. I have no clue where that game went or why they haven’t been trying to implement it.
I know Dickinson is out and Rico who is probably our best penalty killer and a solid faceoff man is not in there, but that defensive game has vanished.
Another thing I don’t see talked about enough on pretty much any sports outlet is the Oilers always struggle with teams that pressure them heavily and forecheck. The Oilers cannot handle a heavy pressing forecheck where they are rushed and they don’t have half a second to make a play and they’re just scrambling. That always always hurts the Oilers. I feel like we’ve known this since the first final three years ago against the Panthers. It’s like teams have been paying attention, but nobody ever talks about how if you just pressure the Oilers and don’t give them any time they sadly crumble.
But without a doubt that’s what they need in order to shut down the ducks, they need to play very boring hockey that concentrates on that stifling defense, where they are patient and have to wait for opportunities rather than running and gunning and keeping the opponents shots as low as possible. The time is now to find that game again. Enough of running and gunning with the ducks it’s a terrible game plan.
Can you guys drop the talk of Bouchard for Norris now? And please admit that while Ingram might be better than Skinner, the issue was NEVER Skinner, but their HORRIBLE DEFENSE.
seems like they play better D when drai is out , who knows, but they look done, its just how they are a losing. i hope i am wrong. lot of good up and young teams coming. game 7 sad to say was there chance in florida

They needed to respect the Ducks more going in to this series . Mcdavid wasn't good until he scored and he needs to have someone with him on rushes.
The biggest problem is Knobs . No ability to see the game and no passion . second problem is Nurse standing around on the PK . Its clear as day that he should not be on the PK but Knobs seems to think he is good . Not sure what Knobs is seeing as the other team key up on him and we get punished every time Knobs throws him out there after we score or PK etc. Nurse and Murphy were out there way too much .
