LE Cœur DE DETROIT A-T-IL BESOIN D’UN RECHANGE ? ANALYSE DE LA ROSTER DES WINGS – Podcast Winged Wheel – 29 avril 2026

1. Short answer, no.
Long answer, the core isn't the problem the supporting cast is.
Moving Raymond or someone doesn't improve the team. At best it would be a lateral move on ice and a message to the locker room.

  2. A good exercise is to go back to around '93 and go forward to 2008 and look at the roster and ask yourself who the "core" was for periods of 5-7 years (or whatever range you want to play with). There was a "core" that changed over time. You could also try pre-Yzerman retirement and post-Yzerman retirement.

  3. If they got swept lime Ottawa, the team might be more complacent…which could be even worse for the suture of the team. It is dismal either way to a large degree.

  4. They need another top line center and they need a wildman goal scorer. If he could bring those 2 pieces in the team would look much different.

  5. Short answer Yes if guys signed like Compher and Ras and Appleton are core. Obviously Ray, Mo are a no go zone, but if the assets merited a change like Robert Thomas coming here or another needle mover, ALMOST everyone needs to know each fuckin shift counts, every game. I don't see Larks or Cat as problematic…picks and prospects are all we got to offer. Gonna need buyout for Compher and/or Ras, they are worse than Erne. I am frustrated they broomed Buchelnikov….
So like the long answer indicates I see a 4 NHL player core

  6. Imagine they deal Edvinsson for Hughes gamble on the Term … they make the play offs hughes is a proper needle mover and he would have signed especially after being part of our return to post season. This team is screwed Larkin is only getting older and more brittle, sell high on him and just age down for Thomas. Amen Ryan!

  7. I'm more for keeping Compher over Copp. Why? Faster skater; has won a cup, has played one more playoff year and many more playoff games than Copp. And, of the UMich boys (Larkin, Copp, Compher), he's the only one to be on a UMich NCAA tournament team – not that this means much. 😜

  8. As long as Dylan Larkin is our best forward, we arent going anywhere. He doesn't have a killer instinct and clearly the room doesn't listen to him. He cant lead us anywhere but mediocrity.

  9. Come on Ryan. Let's be realistic here. No one wants compher. The days of fleecing other gms are over. If Detroit is wanting to move compher you can bet your ass other gms are not interested especially with his contract. Detroit would have pay other teams to rid of him. If you wanna change the team thru trade. It's gonna cost the team, whether it's top prospects, draft picks and current rostered players that have worth. Sucks but that's the reality of it. Detroit is deep in goalies cossa, Augustine, postava and etc. move one of them to fill the teams needs in a package deal

  10. Unfortunately the wings have to make a choice. Wait out contracts till ufas, trade(2 steps back 1 step forward) or buy out(Abdelkater contract) quite a bit of contracts in order to get rid of the "JERSEYS".But…..that means no money goes towards better players coming in. A playoff team has goal scorers with big dmen and great goaltending. The wings have the big dmen thats it. Let the contracts expire so we can have money to spend on goal scorers and let the goalies come up!!!

  11. The Wings need to find about 40 more goals over the course of the season. They need a real top 6 C in addition to Larkin. They need a first line LW. A top 4 LD would be nice. They need to get younger and faster. Solve for those problems and this is a good team.
