I think the key to a successful off season for the Oilers, is to sign 1st/2nd line AHL defensemen to long-term, high AAV contracts this summer.

Meh, who cares. Anyone could've beat the oils this year. Went to the finals two straight years, all their top players were hurt, they don't play defense, and have questionable goaltending. I'm not impressed or sold on this ducks squad. They're going to get blasted by vegas next round.
The Oilers were "a cup favorite at the start of the season"… Only in your fantasy world. That team constantly under performs, and for some obtuse reason some people think they are a viable Cup contender…At no point in my adult life have I thought the Oilers were legit contenders. Yes, they've gotten to the finals – and that is impressive, but they still fell short and confirmed my points. All the individual talent in the world means NOTHING in the playoffs (except for goaltenders).
