Still have plenty of time to screw this one up.

It worries me that the Canucks employ a data an analytics team and they keep hiring guys like Benning or Foote who don’t believe in it.
Benning stumbled his way into a really good core and then proceeded to spend 60% of the available cap space on 4th line/3rd pair players whose stats were not even good enough to stay in the NHL after the first year. It then cost assets to get rid of all those players.
Like you trade for OEL because you liked watching him 10 years ago?? His production had already been declining at a rapid rate.

Guess who hired him? Trevor Linden. People forget this

Just wait until the hire comes down. They still have a chance to fuck this up.

While I like the fact we are putting all the stops out expanded our search u do realize Aquaman is also attending and taking part in the interviews and has his own preferred list of candidates right?
Technically at the end of the day he could once again pick his guy and overrule whoever JR/Doyle thinks is the better choice so maybe let’s just wait and see for now(ofc hope this doesn’t happen)

To be fair: Linden hired Benning and Benning has the « next big thing » at the time and many teams were after him.

Just be happy, Canucks not hiring John Chayka!

Eh… they’ll still hire a guy that says the same thing the other guys have said.

lol, Reddit generally liked Benning for most of his tenure.

Nah they’re probably asking each for a rebuild timeline and picking whoever promises the shortest. Next round of interviews they’ll try to negotiate it down a year.
Then they’ll hire someone they day before the draft
