Yeah, it will become abundantly clear in the next few weeks if winning a Cup, or even realistically contending for one, is a priority for the organization.

The best way to turn profits is to go deep in the playoffs on a regular basis with jacked up ticket prices… they want to win, they’re just inept.

Corporations shouldn’t be allowed to own teams. Their priority will always be profit > results. The NFL doesn’t allow corporate ownership for this exact reason
This is always a dumb take. Ownership cares about winning, because winning makes them more money. The issue isn’t that they don’t care about winning, the issue is they don’t necessarily know how to make that happen.
I’m also reserving some judgement on Chayka, while Arizona may have been a joke of a franchise, its not like he had the ability to use the full salary cap if he wanted to. It’ll be interesting to see how he operates with a team that has deep pockets.
The Leafs not hiring guys that are part of the President/GM carousel could be a good thing.

They do care about winning because winning brings more profit. That’s why they’re not gonna rebuild. Players don’t get paid for playoffs, therefore, playoffs are massive profit. The longer they’re in the playoffs, the more money they make.
This narrative that owners don’t care about winning is nonsense. They may not know what it takes to win, but they do care.
This is way more like to be JFJ rehashed years for longer than it is another Pat Quin era that’s for damn sure.

I think the ownership gives a damn and are trying as hard as they can. Just like I do when I play. And just like me, they aren’t very good at it.
