if they let hall wal. does League min to pittsburgh make sense? we know Kyle LOVES his guys and hall was his guy in Toronto.
I would get rid of big game Bennington while he still has value
They absolutely will. Last season was a bit of a fluke for them. They were poised to be a playoff team but had an abnormally terrible first half of the season. I think they have no issue bouncing back this coming season, especially with how that Thomas line was producing in the latter part of the season. Stack on the promising young core, Hofer finally being a true number one goalie, and great coaching with JM. This team will be a problem for other teams for a long time to come.
The mucky middle…. right where they belong
Hi Iam knew too watching your channel ,its better than watching tsn. Thanks.
I expect Justin Carbonneau to make the team next season. Adam Jiricek and Love Harenstam will also be integral players eventually. The youth movement in St. Louis makes for some exciting hockey in the seasons ahead.
Binnington 🤡 Lol " Does anyone remember McCahill s Navy ? Comader Binnington 😅 . That's what I think of him. From Chicago
You never trade Binnington unless he asks for it. That guy can win a Stanley cup at 45 years old. You do not trade athletes with that mental makeup. He is the most intense athlete on Earth.
I been waiting for this one. Turn it up!!!
Thanks for the coverage Shannon. I think the Blues see if there is any interest in Binner, Kyrou and Buch. I have never been a fan of Kyrou and a big reason is because of what you mentioned. As Jason Whitlock likes to say, he is now "playing paid". He has always had issues with consistency and it just seems to depend on what mood he is in on a given night. Regardless, the Blues performance towards the end of the season gave the fans a look at what oculd be possible. There will be a lot of pressure on them to perform well in the first half of the season because they now have a history of stinking up the first half of seasons now for the last several years.
Starting terribly and finishing strong has kind of been the identity of the Blues for a while now. At one point when during the year they won the cup I believe they were dead last.
What, are the draft lotteries tomorrow? Or did I hear wrong?
I don't think Buchnevich is as popular with the fans here as you think. He's OK, but he's not playing like we hoped and a lot of the fans would rather trade him or Kyrou than Binnington.
Yes! THG giving betting advice!
Trade Binnington to the Oilers for young talent/prospects in order to complete the crash and burn in Edmonton.
If Oilers don't change upper management, don't be surprised if it happens while the Blues can significantly improve
The only issue I have is the past two seasons. They ended strongly and then started off horribly, and then never recovered until the end of the season. So im just hoping that isn't an issue next season
I expect Binnington to play out his contract and then walk unless he requests a move. We don’t need the cap space yet. The Blues don’t have a prospect goalie ready to take the backup spot and we (Blues fans) overestimate how much we would get from a trade.
I don’t necessarily dislike Kyrou/Buch, but I want to see prospects in one or both spots. I don’t think we can move Buch’s contract, but I think Kyrou would be a bounce back candidate on a different team.
My big question mark is what do they decide to do with the D. I expect to see Fowler, Mailloux, Broberg, Tucker, and Lindstein. The question is, so we keep Parayko or do we pencil in Jiricek for the last spot? Or do we start the season with Jiricek in Springfield and trade a D later?
We’ve kinda screwed over Kessel, since he can’t be sent down without waivers, so it may be kindest to let him become a UFA. We’ve stalled his development, and we have a few guys in Springfield who could be a spare D.
I don’t really need to Blues to jump up to the #1 spot, but I wouldn’t mind the Detroit pick going up to 5. There’s a C who plays in Brantford with Jiricek who I would like the Blues to draft, but I think he’ll be gone by 11.
All Star Jimmy Snuggerud? I think so….
15 mil, about 1 McDavid space.
Binnington isn't a generational talent, but he could absolutely have a bounceback. I'd like to see him succeed in St Louis. And with how much draft capital they have this year, I wouldn't imagine they move him
BLUES NEED TO CONTINUE TO GET YOUNGER. HOPE KYROU BOUNCES BACK OR SOMEONE GETS DESPERATE AND OFFERS SOMETHING OF VALUE FOR HIM. IF YOU CAN GET SOMRTHING FOR BINNINGTON FOWLER BUCH OR PARAYKO DO IT, THE BLUES ARE A BUBBLE TEAM RIGHT NOW AND MUST LOOK TO THE FUTURE,
All around solid takes. Yes, Buchie, while I love him, is an expensive contract. The Blues don’t have a 3rd NHL goaltender, and Binnington is in the last year of his contract, so I think he stays until the trade deadline. We needed the tandem and there aren’t a lot of goalies out there. Plus, you don’t get much for a goalie trade. I hope we can pull it together next year, but they have let us down before. We’ll get back to it eventually. Thanks for the hope THG!
As a lifelong blues fan I wish the season started in January every year
As long as the Blues believe they can retool while trying to stay competitive they will never be a legitimate contender again.
They Believe they can build a contender by drafting high floor low ceiling, safe, middle six forwards/bottom four defenseman by picking 10th-20th every draft. This team cannot spend a decade of running three second lines and a fourth line and expect to content with teams like Colorado/Dallas/Minnesota and soon to be Chicago/Utah. They've needed to embrace a full rebuild and they're avoiding it just for the sake of competitiveness.
Futures must include Justin Carbonneau and Adam Jiricek. Not to mention whoever we snag in this draft. Potential for trading all three 1sts to move up in the draft is high.
As a Blues fan, the number 1 thing the Blues organization needs to do is somehow get John Kelly back.
I love you Shannon, but Kyrou has Never outworked everyone on the ice. I have watched every single game of his career too 😢
Keep binner! goalie market is awful and we don’t have anyone in system to replace Hofer if he were to get hurt. its a luxury to have 2 quality goalies
Alex Steen has no business being GM. Armstrong got the Blues a cup, but then totally handicapped them with all the no trade clauses. Blues have a rough road ahead. Their players keep refusing to be traded.
love u
I didn't realize they have 3 firsts coming up this year! That's pretty good news for a skeptical Blues fan
They need a #2 Center to go along with Kyrou and 1 of these Young kids coming up. I would talk to Seattle for Matty Beniers. Dvorsky is a good 3rd line center.
A better defense equals a better Binnington and a Vezina final for Hofer! Just sayin'!
They can possibly use one of those firsts on a goaltender that might be ready when Binner's time is up. I think they'll stick with the current tandem for this season. But, maybe Steener has some tricks up his sleeve ?!!
Again the Central Division is a gauntlet so it'll be hard for them to crack it unless one of the others falls off.
Getting rid of Kyrou and Binnington will help immensely.
They really should move on from Binnington and bring in a solid backup for a good cap hit
Having Kyrou as a pricey contract and not Buchnevich is a wild choice. I’m not a Kyrou fan but it seems like more emphasis on how much of an outlier this season was compared to his orherwise consistent numbers is certainly a choice
We have so much cap space and no big contracts to give out…please stop acting like Binner is somehow a financial hindrance to the team lol
No mention of Carbo or Jiricek, our top two prospects that both have legit chances of making the team out of camp. You should find someone from each team to consult with just briefly now and then. I know I sound like a harsh critic sorry love ya Shannon and all your work
The Blues could be very interesting going forward
With Binnington he has in previous seasons been really good, it was just the defense in front of him really was leaky making his numbers look poor. However this season it was definitely his own play leading to those numbers
I think Kyrou is probably the one they are eyeing to move. The cap space is there to have Binner and see what happens and possibly use as a mid season trade chip if he doesn't have the turn around year he needs to have. I just think Buch brings more value than Kyrou. There have been countless times Kyrou doesn't read the play right or just isn't on the same page as his line and it gets them into trouble. Maybe pairing him with some of the young guys might make a spark happen and he has a good year. I'd say Buch is the safer bet though. Much more responsible defensively and is a bit more of a play maker.
Completely agree on moving Binner and Kyrou, but for drastically different reasons. Binner had a lot of poor performances in front of him and needs moved to a cup contender for another chance. Kyrou is a cancer and needs shipped for the team’s benefit. Lazy, one dimensional player. Never forgive him over the comments about Chief.
Nope. What else ya got
I think they make the playoffs next year if they get reasonable goaltending and Kyrou returns to form. Our goaltending is why we sucked the first half of the season and our secondary scoring was horrible all year long.
The blues found a good first line, but the second line is in shambles when you put those three on the first line together because nobody can bring up the mediocrity of the 2nd line. Buch at center isn't ideal, but the bigger problem is that neither Neighbours or Kyrou are good at handling the puck. Both turn it over a lot, both have other good attributes that save them to some degree (less so on Kyrou's deal), but if you have two that turn it over a lot it's difficult for that line to gain traction or momentum. They need to get someone that has better control of the puck on the wings. Maybe you can bring Carboneau up at some point soon but it will take him a season, I'd almost bring berggren back and put him out there on the 2nd line wing just because he at least has some more tenacity than kyrou and will win pucks.
Goaltending for Binner all year was a struggle, for Hofer it was a struggle until mid to late november. We lost a lot of winnable games early just as we lost some winnable games before the olympic break. If Binner gets from an .873 to an .888-.893 and Hofer performs at a .909 clip again the rest will fall into place.
We did get some good minutes onto Mailloux in an elevated role, which will help his development going into next season, and Lindstein also getting a lot of minutes with Parayko should bring the defense into a better spot next season to start.
Don't forget are first round draft picks the last two year with Adam Jirecak, Justin Carbenaeu. Sorry probably spelled their names wrong, but they are also up and comers. Really Armstrong has put alot of top young prospects in their system
I could be bias.🤣🤣🤣
Binnington is almost aging out given his numbers. They should have gone into rebuild mode when they brought Monty on board but limping into the playoffs last year gave them false hope and they lost a year. One player barely at a point per game isn't enough to build on. If they get some good picks, they could kid themselves another year but they are far from a second round playoff team. If they don't get serious about the future, they will waste another year in exile as they develop players for a team that won't be ready for the rookies when the rookies are ready to help them out..
