The palat trade, engvall contract and Duclair contract were absolutely terrible.
Why dont we go for mcdavid? Or matthews
I would keep Duclair and play him, he has way more upside than Palat and Engvall. I would by out Palat and unfortunately keep Engvall in the minors
You might want to research what it’s gonna cost and for how long when talking about buying players out ! Mayfield for example had a full NTC this up season, then the rest of his contact his MNTC
Absolutely tough decisions ahead. I think Duke, Mayfield, Lee need to go. I love Lee but how low will he go to take a team friendly deal? Pierre Engval was a bad signing along with Palat. Palat needs to go. Buy outs galore for Darche. Tough being a GM in any league but, this is why he’s getting big bucks. Sorokin not getting any younger but I’d keep him at least one or two more years before his trade value goes down. I think if Isles fix defense and work on PP, we should be a lot better. Looking forward to the upcoming season. Draft a right handed D man. That goes without saying.
Isles need to target UFA right hand shot defenseman Darren Raddysh. Tampa scrambling to find a way to resign him, but it will be a challenge for them. Raddysh on Schaefer's right side would look really good.
This has been an issue dating back to the 80’s for gods sake. Holding onto vets long past their prime. One issue is the islanders have been since they were a team famous for not being able to grab the big fish in free agency, usually having to go the trade route. So they’re better off letting Lee go, Palat and Engvall buyout and bring in some kids. Time to get young. I’d rather miss the playoffs rebuilding rather than squeak in and be a one and done with this roster the way it is. Every team in the playoffs this year if you watch are fast and a nice amount of teams- Philly, Sens, Ducks, Buffalo are young. So if the islanders want to do something they need o get lung and quick. They also need an enforcer who can play the game as well on the fourth line. Maybe a draft pick and a middle prospect for Olivier. Someone needs to protect Schaefer. Mayfield needs to go or be the 7 or 8 defenseman
It should be illegal for Engvall to play in the nhl. Like giving a monkey Snapon tools. He is so gifted but can’t put it together and plays like the cowardly lion from Oz

What the heck can you get for Duclair? He's already played for a third of the league. In Darche's long term plan they are still a year away not only from a development standpoint but a cap standpoint. Maybe DeBoer has his team overachieve even more than this year but Darche should not deviate from the long term plan, not make 2 conference finals in a row and then back to mediocrity.
With the promotion of Rocky T to assistant, mean we're going to see some of the Bridgeport kids promoted this year? This year's trades were all huge mistakes, we should have sold #27 , 44, 24, to make room, drop salary, acquire picks.This Louzer attitude of squeaking in and praying for luck in the playoffs must end. No disrespect to you guys, but it doesn't matter if Mayfield is a RHD. He was absolutely terrible and a liability every time he touched the puck. He shouldn't be playing – he is a 7th D at best and the fact that he's making 3M is an absolute travesty.
